Trump has u-turned on the earlier claim that the guy ICE killed in Minneapolis was an 'assassin'. Miller was the first to spout this lie, but more notably, Bovino, Vance and Noem ran with it.

In other news, Trump just fired Bovino.

Isn't that the Trump way. Make outrageous statements or demands and then U-turn once his advisors start to convince him that the world does not believe a single word that he spouts and his demands are just the ravings of an old senile man.
"We have never asked NATO for anything" forgetting that the US is only nation in NATO to invoke Article 5 after 9/11.
It is noticeable that Trump now separates the US from NATO while spouting off about how powerful he is.

I see it differently. I don't think that his advisors can, or even try to, convince him of anything. They're all just sycophant lackeys who carry out the will of their leader.

When he changes strategy, it's because he believes or perceives a potential weakness or risk. I think that he listens to no one. Similarly, I believe that all of his Cabinet members, with the possible exception of Bessent, do exactly what their Leader tells them to do, no more, no less. I don't think that any of them have any ability to set policy or take action that has not been approved in advance by their Leader.

A staffer at the DHS has gone on record as saying that with regard to the "assassin" and "domestic terrorist" accusations against the guy that got shot 10 times in Minneapolis by ICE, Noem only said what she was explicitly told to say by Trump.

Accurate and true. And the leader has very childish tendencies. Also, flattery is a very effective tool when dealing with potty mouthed POTUS.

There must be someone in the administration who has a pair. I agree with virtually all you have posted and it does seem the US has transitioned from democracy to a dangerous dictatorship. Hopefully his apparent addiction to blood thinning drugs ends up reducing the the time he has left to cause chaos in the western world.

Khun Doodoo [Redacted by Mod] when did Canada 'pull' a tantrum? Do you have any evidence to support your claim or is this more nonsense you are making up?
I think he means "I wonder if The Orange one will pull a tantrum like he did with Canada"

Canada never pulls tantrums, eh? Ummm.... ok, maybe the last PM spat the dummy a few times.

Hope this helps you non-native English speakers and readers.

Rarely check into UM nowadays and this thread amongst many stands out as the reason why ..

For the most part we are multi national group of expats living in Thailand (Udonmap) .. so unless DTs policies directly effect you personally ie you are a USA Citizen living her whats all the anti Trumpnesss from all other nationalities ?? and dont start saying Trump effects the world .. thats just bollocks and more so WHOEVER the next POTUS is things wont change.
I have good friends who argue over this and i just shake my head WTF it matters to anyone here other than Americans still tied to the US system.

Comorn guys get a life .. i dont give a rats arse but one thing for sure we are all going to a temple bbq so why let some political jiggery pokkery disrupt your life.

Just sayin

I miss you here, Jon!

Of course whatever Trump does affects the world. Same as with any U.S. President. And I'm not a virulent anti-Trumper, I agree with some of the things he's done and disagree with other things he's done. Same as with any U.S. President.

He's fundamentally changing NATO. We can agree or disagree as to whether or not what he's doing is beneficial for NATO members, or the world in general, but you don't think that fundamentally changing NATO has effects beyond the U.S.?

He's triggered a realignment of international trade. Again, we can agree or disagree on whether that's a positive or detrimental change, but it affects far more than the U.S.

There's only 1 Trump thread in the top 20 active forum topics, so I have no idea what DM and Charlie are complaining about.

I think at one point there were numerous DT threads and they were combined Tam ..

Not so much a complaint its the the hatred being shown for Trump by non American expats living in Thailand that just seems a bit odd IMO... im not buying this he effects us all via head butting with Nato etc etc

Recently at a local eatery a couple of guys close to coming to blows based on their differing views on the POTUS i find astounding.

As devisive as Trump is surely politics (and religion) could and should be discussed without this raging hatred.

I wonder who ever the next POTUS is will he or see receive the same level of bad feeling even if his or her Rep or Dem policies mirror DTs.

Personally when DM is out for a few slurps and with all the lovely Udon lasses so pleasing on the eye the last thing i want to talk about is politics and or religion...life is too short and i much prefer some nice music and a bit of banter.

So let me get this straight. A member on here believes that if you are not a U.S. citizen you should not have any negative comments about the current POTUS, thus his reasoning for staying away from UM. (I would think it would be easier just not to click on the thread if it's going to upset them that much). This is the same person who has never done anything but shower the current POTUS with compliments, yet others shouldn't have negative comments about him. Interesting.

And claiming what happens within the U.S. does not affect the other countries is just mind boggling. Remember the U.S. housing crises in 2009? The whole world went into a recession except a few countries, most notably China and India. So that statement is puzzling. How about invading a country and taking control of its oil, that has no effect on the rest of the world? How about threatening two other sovereign nations with annexation and/or use of military action to take control, that doesn't affect the entire world? How about threatening countries that make trade deals with China? There are so much more but I'm not going to waste my time on things that have been addressed in previous posts. I believe someone is either being naive or is suffering from their own case of TDS, Trump Defense Syndrome.

Theres the thing .. i only ever posted complimentary comments on DT to get all the many haters like you stirred up and it worked... in the real world i dont give a toss about Trump or who ever is POTUS as there is no point having opinion as cannot change anything .. all it does is raise blood pressure.

Whatever happens in the US and how it effects other countries does not raise an eyebrow with me im not a DT lover or hater and thats the i choose to roll as far more enjoyable activities to take up space in my head.

I also find it mind boggling that guys living in Northern Thailand US citizens or not should feel so angered over their differing DT opinions that its coming to fisty cuffs.
