Foreigners residing in Thailand

Post by Doodoo »

"As of 2023, Thailand is home to approximately 4.9 million foreigners, with a significant portion being retirees and professionals. In Bangkok, the expat population is estimated to be around 250,000 to 300,000, while Pattaya has about 50,000 to 60,000 expatriates, primarily retirees. The number of retirees in Thailand continues to grow, making it a popular destination for those seeking a high-quality of life in their golden years.

AI Overview
There is no exact official number, but estimates suggest anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 non-Thais live in Udon Thani Province, including Westerners, Laotians, and Vietnamese. Westerners alone are estimated to be between 5,000 and 10,000.
Total non-Thai population: 10,000–20,000
Western population estimate: 5,000–10,000

a couple of years ago when the US Embassy had a meeting with US expats down in KK, I managed to get the American Citizen's rep to say there were roughly 100,000 expat US citizens in Thailand.

Hard to get good data; also depends on what you count as 'residing'. Large grey area of those on tourist type visas. In Udon Thani, the commonest figure mentioned for western citizens is about 5,000, but that was a few years ago.

There were four at the car wash today. Four different nationalities, three different opinions, two different beers, one common trait, just having fun.

Going to try for a partridge in a pear tree tomorrow.
