Sorry to hear about your cat i hope you can find a solution.
In the past few months i have become involved in a local Dog Hotel business here in Udon and whilst the owner doesnt offer what your looking for she knows everyone in Udon with regard to vets and animal hospitals etc in fact her daughter is a vet and surgeon with places both in Udon and NBLP. I will be meeting her tomorrow so with get some accurate info for you and report back.
AS INFO My son is in the process of joining the team at the Udon Pet Hotel located near the airport and starting a pet transport business both a local (Udon province) pet taxi service and a nationwide shipping service which includes the movement of dogs for search and rescue / sniffer dog training (hence DM buying a new AC panel van requiring a floor mentioned in another thread).

Re: pet euthanasia
I've got the great nephew calling a number of Vets in Udon. Our usual Vets all say no, "we're Buddhist so don't do that.." As mentioned the cat is Stage 4 and going into complete renal failure. Her blood test indicated that.. We've got her on subcutaneous saline 200ml daily and she's been on a renal diet for a couple of years. She's not eating any food so is subsisting on a syringe via mouth of a renal "smoothie" that provides enough sustenance for her to live... She exhibits classic renal failure symptoms and kidney pain by her arched back and stiff legged walking... We'd much rather put her to sleep than go through several weeks of increasing agony.

Re: pet euthanasia
Hello, I have been searching for an affirmative answer to this procedure (euthanasia) for the past 6 months since one of my dogs was diagnosed with cancer. I have been taken him to the same vet since he was a puppy, now 11 yrs old. I cannot get a firm yes or no. He appears to lean toward yes, but my dog has to be in the very latest final stage of life, which like you, I am trying to avoid the unnecessary pain and suffering.. So I can sympathize and understand your frustration. It appears there is a lack of concern for quality of life, for these poor animals.
I would give name of vet but it may cause some blowback due to releasing name without permission. However, there is a vet by homepro on route 216 (google) that appears to be receptive. I will wait for outcome from my vet. before I look elsewhere but, I am seeking a plan "B" if needed.

Re: pet euthanasia
If of any help ....
I have been going recently to the AEC Pet Hospital, Nong Khai regarding my ageing dog. The place is actually before Nong Khai, on the Udon-Nong Khai highway, just on the left before the Honda car dealership. Don't miss it, as it's a long turnaround with an absence of u-turns, because of the ongoing construction work. Readers may know the 'hospital' from the large warehouse full of pet supplies, pools of koi carp and even a few live animals.( Watch out for traffic from adjoining road, coming round from the Friendship Bridge.)
I've been dealing with Dr.Phanuwat, male, pleasant, very good English. I phoned him just now about your pet, circumstances and euthanasia. He understood about vets with strong Buddhist beliefs, but has or would carry out euthanasia when it seemed the best option. He said he'd want to carry out his own examination (reasonable), but would welcome viewing any paperwork from your existing vet, although personally I feel the detail you can provide may suffice. He was ok with me passing on the info to you.
Maybe some use to you. I'm sorry about the cat.

.There is also a Dr. Phanuwat at the AEC Pet Hospital in Udon. I am not positive, but I think it may be the same person. A year or so ago my dog was in very bad shape (since recovered) and he spoke affirmatively about euthanizing our dog if she reached a point of suffering with no hope of recovering.

Oh and thanks. Totally unaware of another AEC Pet Hospital in Udon. The Nong Khai one suits me a little better, as I live in Phen.tutone wrote: October 28, 2025, 6:48 pm .There is also a Dr. Phanuwat at the AEC Pet Hospital in Udon. I used to work on a farm... if you want anything "euthanizing"... I could oblige...
Re: pet euthanasia
got a PM with a good contact for a Vet that will put the animal to sleep. I'll ask her tomorrow when she comes if she minds me publicizing her info on this forum.

The AEC vet / animal hospital already mentioned in this thread was the place recommended by the owner of Udon Dog and Cat Hotel as it is her go to place when required.FrazeeDK wrote: October 30, 2025, 12:32 pm got a PM with a good contact for a Vet that will put the animal to sleep. Hope you get sorted out.
