In the past 2 weeks we have had about 30 cm of rain - about double what is expected for the whole month. Certainly the wettest since I came in 2010. Vegetable garden now full of frogs laying frogspawn. That does usually happen, but not until July or August.

Re: Weather
The storm that passed through Ban Dung yesterday evening was the most violent 15 minutes of weather I have experienced since I moved here in 2007.

Oswaldtwistle, birthplace of James Hargreaves, inventor of the spinning jenny, Jon Anderson, singer with 70's progressive rock band Yes, and also the birthplace of the alleged illegitimate son of Australian cricketing legend, the late Shane Warne, has just passed 52 days without any recorded rainfall.

Re: Weather
Well, in the past 2 months by my bucket analysis we have had more than 80cm of rain - not much less than the usual annual rainfall, but still have the traditionally wettest 3 months to come. Tried to find the actual precipitation record for Udon Thani airport, but according to that they have recorded temperature, wind speed but zero rain in the last 2 months! Thai Met. office need to pull their finger out and fix it, usual apathetic attitude to maintenance.
My village has 4 main routes out of it; one has been flooded since the end of May, 2 others intermittedly flooded over the past 2 months (deep enough too need extra care in a small car) and the only dry route leads to the Sam Prao road which has massive road works and a bridge widening work over the khlong next to Global house - traffic often seriously congested.
All our ponds are now full or in overflow - usually doesn't happen before August. if at all.
Currently the khlongs are doing their job, but when downstream fills up, we could be in for some serious flooding in the next 3 months.

Re: Weather
Hope you're getting another bucket out for tonight's accumulation
Would like to hear how the amount did during the night

yes, another bloody flood. Yesterday in the morning half the garden was under water, up to 15 cm deep. It does still drain away, so 36 hours later down to under 5 cm. On Friday the khlong at Bobay was so full there was less than a foot clearance underneath the bridge. Down on the farm all ponds are overflowing, quite a few plaa Mor were going walkabout. Been buying netting and sticks to put along one side of our farm, because the neighbour has dug ponds all along that side and is waiting for my fish to stock them... another 3 months of this to come.
