Beware of Lazada Return policy

Post by Dakoda »

Think I just got ripped off for 5,000 baht. Returned accepted, but have been given me a 4,900 baht store coupon. WTF is that good for? Don't even know what store. Wife on phone for about hour, got no where. Me on chat for another hour got no where. Done with Lazada. Thru the years spent much with them. Looking like a write off, to me. WTF am I suppose to due with a store coupon?

normally returns are done in the lazada wallet , which you can use with any shop for your next buy ....
anyway i do not use lazada much anymore as shopee is better (to me) and returns are more easy , money get refunded on my bank account ,i always order cod ....and in case not knowing , any online order you make cod you can open the package at delivery in presence of the delivery guy and in case it is not what you ordered or other real problem , you can refuse the package and the delivery guy takes it back , do not forget to take needed video or photos as proof ....

Having taken effect on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, a new law allows online shoppers using cash-on delivery to open up their packages before making the payment. The law was previously announced back on July 5th and protects both the logistics companies and the customer.... as info ;)

According to the Refunds Policy in my above link, that is their normal way of refunding.

They can't give you the cash back, and the only way they can send it to your bank is via a credit or debit card used for the payment.

They also state this:
Due to security purposes and data security concerns, Lazada will not access your banking details or directly contact your bank on your behalf. Lazada do not provide any services that requires customers' private information. We apologize for any inconvenience

I never had a bad refund experience that I recall on Lazada but I always pay with a credit card which gives another layer of support if needed as a backup. They refund directly to the Mastercard or Visa and all is well. Plus the card gives hotel points ;-)

Also, I have very little use for being held hostage waiting for a delivery driver to do a COD. Much prefer the drivers to leave the parcel on my delivery table near the door and not fiddle around with cash and change.

Alas Shopee does not take my non-Thai credit cards any longer so I rarely use them now.

One other had same problem, maybe 2 years ago, and they transfered the monies into my wife BB account. So I will guess they have changed rules.

Would love to use credit card, but they or I need to get code from bank, and it is a US card and they need a cell # to send code. A US cell #, which I do not have and will not use my thai #. Use card other places with no problem. On net just need to supply code from back of card. Catch 22

Talking about credit cards. Now you don't need to sign for anything less than 1,500 baht. But do for anything over. Now to sign need to use finger. It's un readable with my fat finger. One time started to write and somehow hit the submit button after entered 1st letter at Tesco and they had no problem with it. Go figure.

Isn't the Lazada wallet another thing that foreigners can't have any more? I recall reading that foreign customers that did have access to it when they registered several years ago no longer have access to it.

That's for Lazada Philippines. Does Thai Lazada accept a foreigner's ID?

I couldn't use Malaysian Lazada while I was stuck there doing covid quarantines due to their restrictions on non-residents.

Does anyone still have their TRUE wallet?

If you are looking for a cheap US cell phone number for banking and other needs, at under US $6/month, its hard to beat Tello:

I have the cheapest plan with unlimited SMS texts but will add a month of data when I travel to the US later in the year. No contracts. Easy peasy. Just need a second SIM slot, eSIM capability or an old phone. 2-3 of some fellas in Udon have got the same since I showed them. My kids in the US will be getting Tello once their ATT contracts cycle too. Tello partners with the T-Mobile network and can use WiFi calling on your phone too. May be worth a look.

I just went through the process of signing up for a Lazada Wallet via my phone app.

I got to the stage of it requiring a photo of my passport - as a "foreigner" - at which stage I quit, as I don't really want a wallet.

So I would assume that it wouldn't have allowed me to progress that far, had it been intending to exclude foreigners.

Good info. It looks like they've updated their system/app to accept a foreigner's ID.

I may go ahead as a frequent shopper but since Lazada won't be handling monetary refunds in any escrow account, I assume that it will be the same as the OP and store coupons will be issued instead.

Note to OP, the 4,900 baht store coupon will be from the store you bought the original "rip off" article from. You aren't buying from Lazada (or Shopee), you are buying from individual stores inside the Lazada (or Shopee) "mall".
