Something more important \:D/ :-k [-( [-( to many Australians =D>

A typical 24-carton of full-strength beer at 4.9 per cent alcohol will set you back $47.99. Of that, $16.49 is excise, then add $4.36 in GST. Yep, $20.85 is tax. At almost half of the retail price the most expensive ingredient in beer, is tax.

Ah, but the Roads are. :drunk:

Taxes are rarely raised for the purpose they were intended. They might start off in one direction, but eventually they (taxes) will end up being used for another spending spree or be redirected into an bottomless pool.

Those look like nitrogen bottles on the back, possibly mixed with 15% methane. Quite environmentally good, at least from a fuel emission point of view. Let's forget about the burning rubber, OK?

What would the purpose of a cylinder with N2 and CH4 be? I am assuming that it is this mixture

A view on the free world's oppressive clamour to be seen to be thoroughly invested in carbon capture and storage (CCS) at whatever cost.

What's so bad about CO2?

Interesting read from the totally unqualified Mr Ehret - just another run-of-the-mill, far right Canadian conspiracy theorist.

If anyone is interested in more of his musings, you could start here:

In my (slightly more qualified) opinion, oil companies, especially national oil companies, are falling over themselves to have CCS somewhere in their resume. All sorts of inappropriate regional geologies are being touted as being suitable for carbon dioxide sequestration, which they aren't. I admit that it has been a bit of a bonus to the oil and gas explorers, who have swiftly 'adapted' the same technology they use for finding fossil fuels to finding these all-important subterranean 'gas storage bottles'. The science isn't quite there yet: one early Japanese CCS play has shown that the CO2 they have been pumping underground for over a decade doesn't appear to be there. Pipelines that carried oil and gas at certain pressures in one direction aren't universally or safely capable of carrying CO2 at a different pressure in the opposite direction. There's more to reverse engineering than just the word 'reverse'.

Now, if some "run-of-the-mill, far right Canadian conspiracy theorist" opines that the fundamental premise that CO2 will kill mankind is flawed, or at worst false, who am I not to argue that the world may have gone barking mad on touting a sustainable alternative future that either isn't anywhere sustainable or maybe isn't even required?
