The trick is, to ensure you have sufficient storage to carry over any weather related shortages. Fine in small domestic situations, not so much when you have industry and medical facilities depending on secure, dependable power supplies.

China Approves 10 New Reactors In Nuclear Power Ramp-Up
Bloomberg (4/28, Staff) “China’s State Council approved 10 new reactors on Sunday in a vote of confidence for nuclear power to remain central to the nation’s clean energy transition. It’s the fourth year in a row that China has approved at least 10 new reactors. The nation has 30 under construction, nearly half the global total, and is expected to leapfrog the US to become the world’s largest atomic energy generator by the end of the decade.”

US Continues To Operate Largest Fleet Of Commercial Nuclear Plants In World
The NucNet (BEL) (4/28, Dalton) “US utilities operated 94 nuclear reactors in 2024 with a total net generating capacity of nearly 97 GW, the largest commercial nuclear power generation fleet in the world, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) Said. ... Nuclear power continues to account for 19% of US power sector electricity generation, it said. The US’s nuclear reactor fleet consists of 54 power plants, each of which has one to four operating units. The Vogtle nuclear power station in Georgia is the largest nuclear power station with four reactors and a total generating capacity of around 4.5 GW. Ginna in New York is the smallest nuclear power station with its single 0.6-GW reactor. The two reactors at Vogtle and one reactor at Watts Bar in Tennessee are the only new nuclear reactors to come online in the United States since 1996. Vogtle-3 began commercial operation in July 2023, Vogtle-4 in April 2024 and Watts Bar-2 in October 2016.”

Operate word being COULD. If there is, how much is the infrastructure to make this viable going to cost.
Look at the costs involved with the huge con called cheap renewable energy.

The word "COULD"
We could find a cure for cancer
We could stop illegal immigration
We could stop countries importing illegal drugs
We could stop murders using Guns
In other words, the world rotates around the word "Could" So accept it and move on

Bit pathetic Dd.
Why should anyone have to "move on" while you provide no details of how, when, how much is your pet theory.
Easy to say maybe, same as maybe live on Mars. Give us a wee bit more factual info not COULD.

The Medical Council of Canada said in an email statement that the number of American doctors creating accounts on physiciansapply.ca, which is “typically the first step” to being licensed in Canada, has increased more than 750% over the past seven months compared with the same time period last year — from 71 applicants to 615. Separately, medical licensing organizations in Canada’s most populous provinces reported a rise in Americans either applying for or receiving Canadian licenses, with at least some doctors disclosing they were moving specifically because of Trump.

More on the move but in the opposite direction. Great news for Canada and probably other countries that will feel the influx of professionals

Yes Potamoi
Things will now move at a faster rate one thinks.

Trump Admin Quietly Pushes Rule To Reverse Mandated Power Plant Emissions Cut
Engineering News-Record (5/29, K. Rubin) “The Trump Administration has taken several new actions in recent days, some with little public notice, to boost fossil fuel power generation in the U.S, particularly from coal-fired plants. ... The Tennessee Valley Authority last month submitted to the agency the first portion of a construction permit application to build a GE Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactor at its Clinch River nuclear site in Oak Ridge, Tenn. If built, the Clinch River unit will serve as a flagship for U.S. commercial deployment of the SMR design. ... TVA has contracted Bechtel, Sargent & Lundy and GE Hitachi as its team to plan, design and potentially procure, construct and commission Clinch River Unit 1, the companies said. GE Hitachi is the designer of the BWRX-300 system.”

And Canada has seen the light and on the wagon now.

Darlington SMR Contract Awarded To Candu Energy
World Nuclear News (5/29, Staff) “Ontario Power Generation has awarded AtkinsRéalis company Candu Energy Inc a CAD450 million (USD325 million) execution contract for the first of the four planned small modular reactor units at the Darlington New Nuclear Project. AtkinsRéalis is providing Ontario Power Generation (OPG) with expertise for the engineering of the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR). This includes project management, licensing, engineering, design, procurement, construction support and commissioning, as well as digital delivery capabilities in both the nuclear island and balance of plant scopes for the project, the company said.”

It's to be applauded Barney.
At last, some glimmers of common sense appearing.

Westinghouse Eyes US Reactor Deployment In Wake Of Trump Executive Orders, FT Reports
The NucNet (BEL) (6/9, Kraev) “Pennsylvania-based nuclear equipment company Westinghouse Electric has suggested it could build 10 new AP1000 pressurised water reactor (PWR) units in the US following a boost given to domestic nuclear power by president Donald Trump’s recent executive orders, the Financial Times reported. Dan Sumner, interim chief executive at Westinghouse, told the Financial Times that the company is “uniquely positioned” to deliver on the president’s push for new nuclear. ... In the US, the AP1000, a 1,170-GW Generation III+ PWR, was deployed in two major projects: the Vogtle-3 and -4 nuclear plants in Georgia and initially at the abandoned V.C. Summer Units 2 and 3 project in South Carolina. Construction on both sites began in the early 2010s, after decades of new-build stagnation.”
