Context is very important here. I'm assuming (ok, ok only assuming) that the savings will be ongoing whereas the expenses are one time costs such as termination costs for staff, costs to end contracts, etc.

Of course there is no way these expenses relate to the cost of the Doge team for the work they have done which is what this fake news is trying to portray.

You guys are making me feel like a trump defender but I see so much made up nonsense.

I really don't understand the level of animosity / hatred / disgust people have for the guy. Even those Americans who want the economy to tank and people to die just to prove that they are right and Trump is wrong. It's lost on me, honestly. :-k

Climate disaster zealots will be up in arms?

LLNL, Other Facilities Banned From Using Climate Terminology
The Livermore (CA) Independent (5/1, Garberson) “Based on instructions from its Washington, D.C., sponsor, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is no longer permitted to use words reflecting an interest in climate research when it communicates with the public. Terms commonly used in climate research such as “carbon footprint,” “net zero” and “pollution-free electricity” are now off limits to the Laboratory’s public website and its house newspaper and popular science magazine, Science & Technology Review. The prohibition comes from the Trump Administration’s Department of Energy (DOE), which sees climate concerns as exaggerated and political rather than scientific.”

I really don't understand the level of animosity shown by some forum members towards those who simply disagree with Trump and his policies, and are being wrongly labelled as hating America and all Americans. AFAIK, none here have wished death on POTUS or any of his clique.

Jesse Waters on Fox News sits in on a DOGE meeting, then follows a cherry-pick of sound bytes from the virtually nameless, all-male conclave.

A bit like the Vatican actually, but more humourless and shallow.

It's all over for the climate alarmists as governments hastily revise their net-zero plans downwards, and oil and gas companies and markets withdraw from the renewables play, kicking that.can well into the long grass.

Even Greta Thunberg has stopped making angry faces at international natural planet warming events and gone all-in with the Gaza thing.

It will be interesting to see if airlines quietly drop that farcical "carbon offseting" tick box on their online booking pages.

Thanks Donny, from Canada, and now Australia.

Your schiit politics, criminality, and even worse humanity, has turned 2 almost certain general election wins by conservative parties, into 2 wins (in Australia, by a landslide) for the progressive parties.

The mid-term wipe-out beckons. :D

This is a genuine question but who is the leader of the democratic Party now? I had assumed it was Kamala Harris as I'd not heard anything different amd Biden is nowhere to be found, but even a Google search is not giving a clear answer?

I'm approaching this with the mindset of a Pom / Limey who is used to the UK where the opposition party has a leader but maybe that is not how the US system works?

Thanks.

Two theories renting space in my head.

1. They sre so hugely shattered and demoralised by their double-whammy failure (losing the electoral and the popular vote), they are in collosal internal turmoil.

2. They are going through vast amounts of popcorn as they watch the current pantomime while quietly pursuing the "give a man enough rope" school of thought.

Bernie and AOC have been doing the rounds while the Harris and Biden camps remain in stasis. Drawing bigger crowds than Donny John.

Even the illogical haters should see that the US was on a downhill grade and picking up speed. The election is proof that the US needs to change direction. The never elected bureaucrats free spending on expensive non productive programs badly needed to end. Whether Trump's methods are productive or not, at least major effort is being tried. It certainly cannot be any worse than Sleepy Joe's administration. It is quite obvious that the democrats were not even able to come up with a viable candidate.

And the Republicans did?

What's this? The great bargainer has already caved in to China before he has even met the Chinese leader by saying he will cut the tariff on China. For its part, China just sat back and waited for Trump to expose his weakness as a businessman. Chalk it up as a mighty failure for the U.S. President and a nice victory for China.

It looks like a deluge of Federal judges - some of them appointed by Trump - are saying the same thing.

Yeah, once she found out what she was actually supporting, she probably found it less attractive. That whole Sharia law bit, women can't go outside of their houses unless escorted by a male relative, etc.
