Transferring Funds out of Thailand
Are there any restrictions (limits on amounts) on transferring funds back to ones home country, from a Thai bank.

A rule which, like many, is easy enough to circumvent.
Re: Transferring Funds out of Thailand
I recently did a trip coming out of Thailand to .......and carried out a lot more.
At first it was difficult to get an answer from anyone at the Airport on the Departure site, as there is no Customs Office on the Departure side that you can ask.
The Information Counter sent me to the Persons at the bottom of the Escalators that lead to departure. The Persons at the Escalator sent me back to information.
I ended up going to the VAT Counter down by Row Q and explained what I wanted to get from my Apartment to take out of Thailand and its approximate value. That and along with how much cash I was caring out in USD and Thai Baht. The guy was good and said no problem, you can take out as much as you want (it was Gold). I then explained the need for the USD cash when I landed elsewhere.
I went home collected my stuff and decided I would stop and ask the VAT again. Different person (a girl). Explained what I had with me in my carry on and why and she said fine. Just tell them as you go through Xray if they ask.
Xray asked me to open my bag because I had some perfumes in it. They checked the perfumes and while the bag was open I just said I also have XXXXXX in gold for ..........and YYYYY in cash for......... Thai guy looking at the perfumes, said that OK.
Recommend you talk to the VAT Counter and explain first. They seem to be more switched on
Regards

That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.

Now transferring funds from a Thai Bank to another Bank in another Country
say from the Sale of an Apartment has a different set of rules.

I sent a rather large amount from my Thai bank to my US bank. I bought a cashiers check made out to myself. I endorsed it for deposit only to my US bank account number and used registered mail to mail it. It worked fine. No questions or complications.

Glalt, a few weeks back I needed a USD bank check from Bangkok Bank for the same purpose and was told that only the main headquarters in Bangkok could issue such a check. What bank did you use?glalt wrote: May 5, 2025, 9:59 am I sent a rather large amount from my Thai bank to my US bank. I bought a cashiers check made out to myself. Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.
