Bangkok Bank Code Change

Post by LoneTraveler »

Hello! In March of this year Bangkok Bank changed their transfer code for foreign transfer from the NY branch from FTT with SMS notice to the new code PTT ( transfer of funds by phone number linked to account) without SMS notice.

I asked the teller at bank "did they change method for foreign transfers, she said yes. The transfers will now reflect the new code PTT in bankbook and no SMS notice. I asked how do I obtain an SMS notice in future, she said I have to apply for it at a cost of 15 Baht a month. I also asked if Immigration will accept the new code PTT as a foreign transfer of funds, she did not know.

Has anyone from the US received the new PTT code for their transfer of funds for pension (SS) or other funds. And do you know if Immigration will accept the new code for transfer of funds as a foreign transfer? Thank you in advance.

As for immigration:- I have been with Wise for a number of years now for my international transfers and any process changes they have made have not been questioned by Immigration.
The latest change was Wise becoming a commercial bank and all their customers given their own bank account number through which all transactions are processed. No codes, no fuss and no additional charge (about 0.5% of official x-rate) to the customer and INSTANT transfer. eg CBA Australia - Wise - KBank Thailand (in my case).
