The Thai French butcher was always very good, but I haven't been there for years.
Is it STILL good?
And any OTHER recommendations, please?

I believe Pan Foods have shut down Tam. (Can someone confirm)
I have yet to see any traditional 'fresh' style butchers apart from the open market style Thai shoe leather meat purveyors.
Makro and CTMY are all frozen suppliers.

Fresh, high quality, good choice, pricey.

What is the problem with buying frozen beef from Australia, New Zealand or Argentina. I have bought frozen beef and it has partly thawed out, so I cut it to individual pieces, refreezing it and no problem at all, been doing it for many years.

No real problem Sport but real unfrozen, properly hung meat is a level above frozen, thawed out meat.

The cuts at either Makro are really good and the days of smuggling your own FROZEN in your checked bags or getting by on buffalo or Brahma are long gone.
As for being "properly hung meat", I've had no complaints from Mrs tam.

No Idea, i don't shop, that's the missus job and she don't buy steak.

Pan foods closed on the RR NSR junction location a few weeks/ months back , they are relocating in the town center and also incorporating a restaurant which is now part of the franchise gig .. due to open anytime soon but still not got the new location ... need my Jalapeno popper and Cheese potato Krockets fix.
I buy the fresh Harvey Striploin Aussie beef lumps from the new Makro and cut them nice n big steaks works out very well economically cost per steak and its good flavour ...
