Re: GO Wholesale
Decided not to bother with GO and stick to the new Makro near Chris place (which is marvelous) and for those special things C2MU ... 7 11 OK for small quick convenience shopping.

Re: GO Wholesale
Have a close look at the OP, DM - Go Wholesale is actually located in Udon, and no yellow book requested before the purchase of the croissants.
You may find that BD has changed since your last visit - it is no longer the BMI-challenged pommie enclave you remember with such fondness.

Re: GO Wholesale
We need to ensure DB, has the OM, along with the CA and HUM. With this done then we being the GH's can move forward to get the HV
I hope this will allow GW, NM, to be TSed

JS ....GO is on the impoverished smoggy East side close to the favelas and i reside on the more hiso clean air West side (for now) and the new Makro is reachable on my bicycle with saddle bags.jackspratt wrote: ↑February 6, 2025, 12:56 pmHave a close look at the OP, DM - Go Wholesale is actually located in Udon, and no yellow book requested before the purchase of the croissants.

Bang Dung never been the same since the late great Eddie passed away and it was under the control of the Brit Mafia spotted Dick , apple crumble and custard tarts were the norm back then not poncy croissants !!
i passed through recently (at speed as my typhoid vaccine isnt up to date) and noticed even the soi dogs had overalls on.

Re: GO Wholesale
Visited the shop yesterday morning, liked it, and a tip for Aussies. They had fresh whole ocean coral trout about 2kg, around 250b kg, whole Spanish makeral around 2kg about the 220b kg. Also fresh Thai beef cut into 1-1.5kg pieces 220b kg and not buffalo. Not good for steaks, good for Chinese, stews, Thai and Malaysian dishes and others.
Makro has whole Spanish mac's in the 4-6kg size, too much for me. I will be visiting Go more often.

Re: GO Wholesale
I hate shopping and new shops .. trying to find all the stuff you need before they move it .. drove past GO today circa 10:30am ( before it got dark ) car park was empty..so being a creature of habit i went to the new marvelous West side Makro and was in n out in 20 mins as i know what i want and more so where it is.. no Alaskan k i n g crab so i bought a couple of ripping pork chops instead.

Re: GO Wholesale
I stopped in to have a look at GO yesterday. I like what I see so far on my limited look.
I really like the large wide isles. I can't imagine why that would be an issue for some. Perhaps 7/11 is a better fit for the ones that think its too spacious. I think after a couple of laps around I should know where things are and get my 10,000 steps in as a bonus.
I bought a few frozen steaks and a head of iceberg lettuce mostly to test the checkout efficiency. I really like that they take credit cards as I use one for everything I can for the IHG hotel points. The cashier spoke English and advised me to get the app on my phone so I could add my Central NumberOne card number and get some kind of discount. I will check this further next trip over.
Easy parking, wide isles and fast checkout with credit card support will help offset the distance from my home but I will likely stop in often since I generally need to go to ToolPro, Global or HomePro about once a week anyway.
Can recommend having a look. Here is the App QR if anyone wants to register before going:

Re: GO Wholesale
For those of us who can spot a yellow discount sticker at 50 yards Go wholesale does have some good buys, Got a loaf of whole wheat bread for 25 baht, and other bakery goods all at half price. Unfortunately many of the special prices during the opening week have disappeared, as have some of the perishable items (no potatoes, at all?)

Re: GO Wholesale
on my weekly visit, this time had potatoes, but my trolley had more space than the potato display. Also sprouting and 49 baht - no thanks.
got some half price bakery though.

Re: GO Wholesale
went today. Seems far more organized than my last trip. Last time I asked if they had pet food and got the mai me. But, it is located in the front corner of the store on the exit side.. Not a huge selection but the prices were somewhat lower than Makro... I note again cheese prices seem significantly lower than other places. Overall I think it is more expensive than Makro.. That said, Makro's makeover dropped numerous brands I've been buying there for over 10 years and others saw price rises..

Re: GO Wholesale
Made a full lap around yesterday to see what is what. I like the place more and more. Spotted a Mr. DIY in there this time which I somehow missed the first visit. Tesco just lost another card in the convenience game. Auntie Ann's and Mr. DIY. Even more compelling choices.
Parking again even easier than the West side Makro which is a fairly high bar to pass. The entrance available right at the U-Turn was something the Makro-West should have considered when planning their carpark as well. If only the out of sync motorbikes on the ring road would stay in sync with the traffic light compliant traffic the world would be a better place... but that is a whole different topic. The only negative niggle is the overzealous security guard given a brand new whistle. You know, the more he blows it, the more important his social standing? Bhaaa, that is just one of the aspects of life in any Thailand city one simply has to get over, I suppose. Nevermind, didn't allow it to muddle my general opinion of the store.
Got my eye on a couple of Maine Lobsters for a special occasion in future and hope there is enough interest in them to keep them coming in. May need help from the Laos luxury car owning folks to keep sales and stocks up.
I don't see a big difference in prices vs Makro but I am by no means an expert over there. Again, I had a great cashier experience. Having the veggies close to the cashier allowed me to get two items scanned that I didn't realize needed weighing quickly while he scanned the rest of my cart without delay. I used the phone app to give the member number for scanning more for the Number One Card points of which I still don't know how to use, 555. At the end the cashier asked for coupons. Mai lo. He then asked to let him swipe through the app on my phone and found two 50 baht coupons to scan. That was kind of him. Once again used my Chase Bank IHG Mastercard for the purchase to get me hotel points.
On the way out the door I picked up a rotisserie chicken for 129 THB. Easy and quick purchase. A very nice shopping cart attendant asked if I needed help bagging once at the back of my Pajero which I happily accepted. He knew which items to put in the insulated bag and which could be in the plastic ones I had lying about. A 20 baht tip made his day better and mine as well. Got to take the wins as they present themselves in this town.
That's two very positive experiences I have had at GO Wholesale. Next time I'll count the steps for a full, every isle, lap.
