I guess most of you are now aware Customs are taxing everything coming into the Kingdom with a value of one Baht or more.
For years I have been getting my prescribed medication sent up Express Post every 6 months via my Sister after a phone consultation with my doctor. The declaration describes the contents in full with a zero value. Never been a problem.
Received a delivery today, for the 1st time the package had been opened. No problem, BUT:-
The postage value was circled in red and Thai Baht conversion written = 880 Baht.
Had to pay 61 Baht (VAT?) duty on the postage. Ya gotta luv em. 55555

Re: A new twist to the new > Zero Baht Import Duties
Calculation is correct, Dero.
Goods valued at 1 - 1500 baht (CIF, or Cost + Insurance + Freight) are exempt from customs duty, but 7% VAT is payable.
Value over 1500 baht CIF, means both duty and VAT will be collected. I also presume the value for VAT will also include the duty amount, as well as the CIF.
