Lest We Forget
Today is Remembrance Day to honour the veterans from, initially, the First World War. Subsequently it is a day to pay respect to veterans of all subsequent wars.

I read it, so chaplains have to shift their role from being Christian oriented towards being more inclusive to address their roles so as to not alienate other beliefs and non believers. Is there a problem with this?tamada wrote: ↑November 12, 2023, 2:34 pmThis is a bit off, no?

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani
Re: Lest We Forget
Not if you consider that "inclusiveness" is some balm that magically absolves the proponents of this abstract construct of being remotely inclusive.

Re: Lest We Forget
Congratulations, the finest example of tautology that I have ever seen on this forum. Well done, the proponents will absorb these deep thoughts and will no doubt draw strength from the substance. In the end it may be a draw between relevance and/or encouragement, but without doubt a substantial elevation from the banality of most posts.
In simpler terms WTF are you trying to say

Personally I prefer to respect the OP Post for what it is and who it remembers.

For myself I have never had a problems with God Botherers, known as Caplins, they have the ABILITY to know their parishioners and act and speak accordingly. I have known them deal with Muslims as well as Jews and Catholics exactly the same way as they did with their Christan flock. Each time that particular soldier was left at peace .
There is as one said to me a consensus that no matter what , all religions aspire to accept that there is ONE GOD , so it is how you go about believing that is a personal choice. It is for me to assist the uniformed arm of the Armed services to deal with their problems .
Some Chaplin's are a pain in the proverbial, luckily during all my time I met good ones who had the ability to empathise with all no matter their personal choice of religion, even if that was no religion at all

Re: Lest We Forget
All very reasonable there KP. I guess this particular Canadian Chaplain-in-Chief is one of those with opinions above his station or, as you more eloquently put it, a pain in the proverbial. If you KNOW that someone is discomfited or upset by your actions, you can address this. But feeling for the possible or assumed discomfort or unhappiness of people you don't even know and then making a hue and cry about it under the banner of being more inclusive is all so much virtue signaling or projecting being Holier than Thou.Khun Paul wrote: ↑November 13, 2023, 7:00 amFor myself I have never had a problems with God Botherers, known as Caplins, they have the ABILITY to know their parishioners and act and speak accordingly.
