Tina Turner RIP
Re: Tina Turner RIP
In 1989, the NSW Rugby League HQ in Sydney comprising of John Quayle, Ken Arthurson & others, came up with a bold and novel idea to have an international star be the face of Rugby League in Australia. It was carried into the Australian Rugby League later on.
At first the idea was scoffed at and ridiculed to spend an enormous amount of money on one person. Tina Turner did not disappoint, the money was well spent and still her League anthems carry on till this day and forever.
And has time gone on, women and youngsters quickly immortalised her performances, leading many to become involved in League.
This week of league games, her images, performances and songs will be played at every major game. When a lot of people hear her league songs on radio and tv, she will be remembered in many years to come.
Very sad news of her passing, RIP Tina Turner.

It's been a bad week as various heroes have passed away. RIP Anna May.
Re: Tina Turner RIP
Many years ago, I saw her concert. She was terrific. Part of the show was the guy who smashed watermelons with a huge mallet. Lots of laughs. RIP Tina.Doodoo wrote: ↑May 25, 2023, 3:43 amQueen of Rock 'n' Roll Tina Turner Dead at 83 After 'Long Illness'

I went to one of her concerts in Sydney in the 70's, she was outstanding. No watermelons were harmed in the course of her performance.
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani
