In Alabama... it's illegal to drive blindfolded.
Sounds like word didn't make it to everyone in the Yellowhammer State about the common phrase "Keep your eyes on the road." One Alabama law prohibits driving while blindfolded. Our eyes are wide open after hearing this one!

WHY NOT
In Arizona... it's illegal for a donkey to sleep in a bathtub.
In the 1920's, a local dam broke, flooding a rancher's home. The rancher's donkey had become accustomed to sleeping in the bathtub, which filled with water and whisked him miles away. After working to rescue the animal, the town passed a law that prohibits donkeys from sleeping in the bathtub (though it's okay for them to stand in one!).

In Georgia... it's illegal to live on a boat for more than 30 days.
Oh buoy! If you're planning to retire on a boat, the Peach State is definitely not the place for you. According to state law, it is prohibited to live on a boat for more than a month.

In Idaho... it's illegal to sweep debris into the streets.
One man's trash is certainly not another man's treasure in Idaho, as it's illegal to sweep debris onto streets, highways, alleys, or any road used for public travel. If only other cities would enforce this law!

But it's probably OK for it to own several AR-15s. ;)

Jack
Since you brought this up is that a fact or just a guess for having an AR15 in Arizona?

GOLF
You can't give or receive advice from another player.
We're not sure why this has to be said, but the USGA says players aren't allowed to "give advice to anyone in the competition playing on the course other than his partner, or ask for advice from anyone other than his partner or either of their caddies," according to USGA rule 8-1.

BASEBALL
The MLB is against catching a ball in your hat.
By any means necessary doesn't really fly in Major League Baseball. In fact, if an outfielder catches a ball with his hat, the opposing team is awarded three bases.

POLO
There's no left hand usage allowed in Polo.
Since the official rule change in 1974, all Polo players must play with their stick in their right hand, as the contact of a right-handed player versus a left-handed player was considered dangerous.

SOCCER
Soccer players can't remove their shirts.
Since the rule change in 2004, soccer referees have been able to hand out yellow cards to any player who breaks FIFA's rule and removes their jersey in a celebratory manner.

Perhaps you ought to write to MLB and suggest they change Rule 5.06(b)(4), which only talks about caps. Not a hat to be seen anywhere. :D

ODD JOBS
Pet food taster
Yes, this is exactly what it sounds like. But before you say no, professionals can make up to US$120,000 annually, according to Menttes.

Drying paint watcher
This is perhaps the most boring job in this entire gallery. However, as reported by the Daily Mail, this is the real job of a man in North Wales who evaluates how long it takes paint to dry. Yawn!

Marmite taster
There was a man who spent 42 years tasting this icky British goo! Marmite's chief taste tester, St. John Skelton, retired in 2016, according to The Daily Express.

Face feeler
Also known as "sensory scientists," these folks get paid to touch faces and evaluate the effectiveness of different facial cleansers, scrubs, lotions, and other products.

Human scarecrow
The BBC reported that a university student found work doing just this. It is a pretty easy gig as he mostly just sits, reads books, listens to podcasts, or plays the ukulele.

Professional foreigner
This is a real thing that happens a lot in China. Chinese businesses will hire foreigners (aka white guys in suits) to pose as businessmen, celebrities, or even British guards to make properties look more "international" as reported in this Business Insider article. Hilarious!

1) In Maine... it's illegal to park in front of Dunkin'.
You donut even know how much the town of South Berwick, Maine, loves its Dunkin' Donuts coffee. This law was enacted because the coffee and donut chain is a hot-spot and the parking lot can turn into a mega traffic jam. Talk about a caffeine rush!

2) In Maryland... sleeveless shirts are banned in public parks.
You definitely won't like this one if you're a fan of muscle tees: In Baltimore, it's technically considered a park rule violation to be in a public park with a sleeveless shirt (yes, even if you're out for a run)!

3) In Nevada... it's illegal to sit on sidewalks.
The Silver State never sleeps — or even rests for that matter. It's unlawful to sit or lie down on public sidewalks in Reno, Nevada, as it interferes with the primary purpose of the sidewalk and threatens public safety.

All airplanes need to be repainted about every 7 years due grit, oil, corrosion etc
The planes exterior is stripped and a new coat of paint about an eighth of a millimeter thick is added once again adding about 1300 to 2200 pounds (590 to 1000 kgs) to the plane

Miyazaki Mango
The Taiyo No Tamago Mango, also known as the Miyazaki Mango, are highly regarded for their sugar content and gorgeous coloring. These mangoes are priced between $50 and $3,600 each.

Densuke Watermelon
With prices starting at $250 each, Densuke watermelons are known for being virtually seedless and incredibly sweet. Densuke watermelons are arguably the most expensive variety of watermelon in the world.

Lost Gardens of Heligan Pineapple
Pineapples grown in Cornwall’s Lost Gardens of Heligan, in the Southwestern part of England, sell for roughly $15,000 each.

Square Watermelon
Designed to fit more easily into small Japanese refrigerators, square watermelons cost around $100 each. Their shape also makes them easier to ship.

Sandwich
The popularity of the sandwich is attributed to 18th-century John Montagu, the 4th Earl Sandwich. It’s said he asked to be served meat between two slices of bread so he could continue working or – as some historians believe – carry on gambling. The versatile snack caught on and has been a lunchtime staple since.

Reuben sandwich
Appearing on menus in the early 20th century, this corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Russian dressing and rye bread grilled sandwich is named after Reuben, but which Reuben remains disputed. There's Arnold Reuben, the Jewish owner of Reuben’s Delicatessen, New York (pictured). However, Omaha residents believe it was invented by chef Bernard Schimmel for poker player Reuben Kulakofsky at the local Blackstone Hotel.

Beef Wellington
In the 1960s, beef Wellington was a popular choice on menus. While it’s named after the Duke of Wellington, a British military hero who defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, the dish of meat wrapped in pastry – or an earlier example of it – was already commonplace. Its Duke-inspired name seems to have been added later.

The Duke also served as British Prime Minister from 1828-1830 and for a month in 1834.

Some Phobias

Pogonophobia – Fear of beards
Hipsters across the globe have done their part to bring facial fuzz back into the limelight. But the growth in beards (no pun intended) is sure to be bad news for Pogonophobics who don't just dislike the bristles, they’re actively scared of them.

Pentheraphobia – Fear of the mother-in-law
For most men the mother-in-law is at worst someone that's can be avoided with conveniently planned DIY jobs or an extra drink or two after work. But for some sufferers the fear of their partner's mother is so severe that divorce is the only option left open to them.

and get this one
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia – Fear of long words
A recent study suggests that up to 5% of the population suffer from this affliction, which is a debilitating fear of long words. It's an all too serious condition, but no doubt you'll have all spotted the irony in the doctors’ decision to label it with a 15 syllable long name.
