These posts brought a real smile on my face, everybody is an expert based on their individual experiences.

In Thailand, immigration, amphur and other agencies vary with the Thai official you are dealing with, not the law, not the written procedures not what you experienced last time.

There is no standard.

Although you are fundamentally correct in your overall assessment that everyone's experience will be largely unique, an opinion that I agree with, I would suggest that there is one standard.

In the English-speaking nations, it's called a "double standard" but not sure how that transliterates here in the land of crushed hearts, wasted opportunities and squandered earnings.

Maybe a better approach from the so called experts is to predicate their advice with 'in my experience' or 'I understand the procedure is' rather than I am right and you are wrong.

Totally in agreement again (must buy a lottery ticket).

I usually append the dual suffixes of "YMMV" and "TiT" to any post I make that references my limited personal experiences in dealing with Thai bureaucracy.

That is an interesting claim.

If you claim that in udon immigration the amount on the Bank certified statement must have exactly the same figures as are shown on the Bank book, I have categorical proof that your claim is wrong.

I submitted a bank letter and statement issued on the 29th (the day of application for my extension) that showed the balance and statement as of the 28th, my bank book showed the transactions with a deposit of ฿100 on the 29th so the bank book number was ฿100 higher than the certified letter and statement.
"I have categorical proof that your claim is wrong." You only have proof of a different experience to me!!!

The renewal I tried in 2020 was rejected because my bank statement was dated the day prior and the bank book did not show a transaction on the statement date as well. They ordered me to go over the road to the KBank and get it sorted (another 300 Baht). A very frustrating day as immigration was heaving with Covid extension applicants, at the time, and I wanted to get to the queue early thus my (ill conceived) decision to get the banking commitments done the day before.

2021 and 2022 went smoothly following the criteria they forced on me in 2020.

The experience was different because I followed the rule

Your "BS" bankbook HAS to reflect the final balance on your statement/letter.

The categorical proof of the incorrectness of the claim is in the fact that the bank book does not have to reflect final balance on your statement/letter.

In your previous posting you made no mention of the fact that you did not get the letter and statement on the day of application.

This was obviously new information for you, though it has been mentioned in a number of posts In previous years, so unfortunate that you missed them.

Never knew him or of him, so I have no idea what you are talking about.

I certainly understand what is written.

However my Cristal ball is in for repairs so I don’t reply to what is thought but not posted. So if you mean something different from the words you use that is not me confusing what’s meant.

I actually had this 'exact' experience about 2020 also. Although i was sure he was wrong, the officer insisted that the 2 amounts should be the same. Resulted in another visit to the bank - they said they couldn't correct the letter, would have to wait until next day to get the same figure on a new letter. Answer - thought about it for 30 seconds, so withdrew exact amount in the account i had deposited in the morning, to make the book match the existing letter. Accepted by immigration officer.

That was using fixed deposit. I now use Mee Tae Dai account and that days updated amount is in the letter. TIT.
