When I need advice about posting on this forum, I will ask the mods not you. If I post an opinion I use the words 'I think' or similar, if I post a fact I typically quote a source. That I think is appropriate and I will continue to post with that approach.
That is an admirable approach

I'm sharing an opinion here. It's not an opinion I share.

I was sharing a link to someone else's opinion. It is not my personal opinion.

My opinion.

A bit of lazy journalism. The writer only concentrates on Trump, not the environment that allowed him to reach prominence.

Trump did not suddenly appear. If you read history, Hitler did not suddenly appear either and the parallels are disturbing. If you read history, disaffected Germans had been embracing authoritarianism for years before Hitler assumed power, indeed without that political atmosphere, Hitler would not have been successful in taking absolute control of Germany.

The Tea Party movement and illiberal movements in the USA and other parts of the world have appealed to voters who are hardline Christians, Nationalistic, anti-refugee, anti-gay, and anti-Muslim. They have adopted a classical belief system of the nuclear family, and strict interpretations of the bible, in fact, many are calling for the principle of non-secular government to be replaced by their view of Christianity guiding government. No different to Iran, just a different playbook.

Trump is their poster boy so far. That poster is looking shabbier and shabbier. To date, there is nobody to fill that position if Trump goes. He remains as long as the underlying political mixture of philosophies that include Libertarianism, Conservatism and illiberalism thrives.

They cannot let him fall from grace just because he is a lying, conniving con man who attempts to flout the law and principles of democracy for which he has nothing but contempt.

They say 24 hours is a long time in politics. We are almost certainly going to see that play out in the USA.

Hurricane Ian is ripping the bejesus out of the SE Coast of the USA. Biden is responding like a champion, even Di Santis is now forced to kowtow after slamming Hurricane support for the New York only a few years ago.

Biden's popularity is set to soar, it will rip the heck out of the GOP's tactic to paint him as a doddery incompetent. Maybe 2022 mid terms have shifted from blue to red.

End of story for Trump if this actually happens. It will take a miracle to overcome the GOP gerrymander in several states, this might be that timely miracle.

Yes, I guess now Governor DeSantis is a socialist pig, and another far-right hypocrite.

Is there something in the water in Arizona?

"Republican officials in a rural Arizona county refused on Monday to certify the results of the 2022 midterm election, despite no evidence of anything wrong with the count from earlier this month.

Some officials who have embraced voter fraud theories held out, defying a state deadline and setting the stage for a legal battle.

...In a lawsuit on Monday, the secretary of state, Katie Hobbs, a Democrat who narrowly won the race for governor, asked a judge to order county officials to canvass the election, which she said was an obligation under Arizona law. Lawyers representing a Cochise county voter and a group of retirees filed a similar lawsuit on Monday, the deadline for counties to approve the official tally of votes, known as the canvass.

The two Republican county supervisors delayed the canvass vote until hearing once more about concerns over the certification of ballot tabulators, though election officials have repeatedly said the equipment is properly approved.

...That would threaten to flip the victor in at least two close races, a US House seat and state schools chief, from a Republican to a Democrat."

Under Arizona law these individuals who refuse to certify the results are subject to prosecution and can end up in jail.

The answer to the election corruption is a national ID card. No ID card, no vote, who is blocking that requirement? Politicians who oppose that idea are very suspect. I have a very low opinion of career politicians. How many of them are poor?

What election corruption? I believe several states wasted millions of dollars trying to find this “corruption” that doesn’t exist.

LOL. You’re getting a little ahead of yourself. He has to win the GOP nomination first, which is no guarantee. His own people are getting weary of his tired and boring rants, except for the diehard fan boys such as yourself.
