NATO

Post by Doodoo » May 14, 2022, 3:42 am

Guess who is calling the kettle black?
"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that his country does not support plans by Finland and Sweden to join NATO, claiming they are home to “terrorist organizations.”

Erdogan's in a misogynist muddle. When he says “Scandinavian countries are guesthouses for terrorist organizations. ...They are even members of the parliament in some countries” he means that both countries have female heads of state. Remember how he treated Ursula von der Leyen during an EU meeting his country hosted?

Erdogan is loathsome. Finland and Sweden are both top notch countries and widely respected.
Not a fan of secret missile strikes into Mexico!

He might have meant all Kurds living in Sweden and Finland

Erdogan will sell his vote to the highest bidder. Probably Russia currently.

ERdogan will cut a deal with Sweden and Finland. What exactly he'll get is up in the air but will likely have those countries expelling anby PKK radicals and allowing some military gear to be sold to Turkey.

Turkish-made drones a popular purchase

As usual when it comes to arms shipments, Turkey has not commented on the matter. The world often only learns of the existence of these drones from media reports, if they are used in combat or if the recipient country talks about it.

The Bayraktar TB2 was developed and produced by a Turkish company, Baykar Technology. The business belongs to two brothers and was first founded in 1986. Over that time it has grown to become a giant of Turkish arms manufacturing, belonging to the Bayraktar family. The son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Selcuk Bayraktar, is the company's chief technology officer.

According to the company itself, it grew its exports sevenfold between 2006 and 2021. Media reports say the TB2 has brought business orders from 16 countries, including Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Tunisia, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Poland was the first NATO member to purchase the drone last year, adding 24 to its arsenal.

Yes, he'll get his horse trade but let's see how quickly the UN, EU drop the hot potato of encouraging Ankara to legitimize a Kurdish state inside Turkey. Like most populist leaders gone autocratic, Erdogan needs a Boogeyman so he can make restrictive and invasive laws as he claims to be protecting the country. The PKK are his.

I was reading how Iraq's patience with their Kurdish enclave has also worn thin as they seek to repeal Erbil's oil revenue autonomy as unconstitutional.
