Lets just hope they have completed the Tokyo games by then!
Seriously, I don't think there is too much enthusiasm about the olympics right now.

Must be a bigger backhander/slush fund available in Oz than any of us thought
Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
I see another Aussie man has been slapping down a distinguished Aussie woman. Some big wig chaps from Aussie aren't that woke.

For Statto:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-22/ ... /100313366
A former Aussie PM who was born in the UK and loves things English perhaps even more than KP excelled in this sort of notoriously unwoke activity too.
If Oz is going to follow Japan's example, Queenslanders opening their big mouths more than a decade before the Olympics might come to grief in 2032.

Cmmon sport, its the biggest jolly most will get in their lifetime ...... why not spend thousands of extra taxpayers dollars on attending to look at what is happening, after all the 55 TV cameras might miss someone falling over. I'm pretty sure that more than one previous Olympic games holder has filled his boots by writing an expose book on what they did and what went wrong that can be purchased from Amazon with the knowledge your taxpayers money will go straight up in space

I see another Aussie man ( A different Australian male) has been slapping (hitting with the palm of the hand) down (a reference to being closer to the floor or perhaps some feathers?) distinguished Aussie woman (Australian lady of breeding . Some big wig chaps (aka lardi da geezers) from Aussie aren't that woke. (that come from Australia and are still asleep)
Ive translated what 93 wrote into English as best as I can
You must have a degree in goobledegook if you can make head or tail of that

I guess I had the advantage of already reading about the incident 93 was referring to.
On the other hand, I cannot make head nor tail of your response to his follow up. Perhaps you ought to get in touch with Declan.

Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
Just seems a hell of a stupid idea to travel half way round the world at enormous expense during a friggin pandemic, to do what? ......... watch an opening/closing ceremony that will be covered by hundreds of TV stations anyway ..they will see more of, and get a far better view watching on TV

Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
It's a 9 hour flight from Brisbane to Tokyo - hardly half way round the world. They are almost on the same time zone.
The Queensland Premier wasn't up there to watch the running, jumping throwing and swimming. Her job was to seal the deal for the 2032 games in Brisbane - whatever your view of the desirability of that.

I like to think that downunder "distinguished" relates mores to achievement than breeding.
This week a NZ sports psychologist I know was telling me he had just been buying some food for the 6 hour wait he was facing the next day while going though the Covid checks at Tokyo airport. His principal bread and butter is working with one of the Melbourne AFL teams. I don't think Statto will need a translator.
Good luck to Brisbane. For the Olympics; not for the AFL.

Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
Ive heard that GB was amongst the favorites for a skateboarding gold, and that they are red hot favorites for the wall climbing ......... they should be having had so much practice thanks to Bojo driving them up it so often
Bojo must stand a good chance of a medal in the 400m race, just got to convince him its the same as two double quick Tory U turns

The Americans will be competitive in wall climbing events.
So will Aussie women if dorks such as Coates continue to hold "office".

Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
Not Brisbane but the current Tokyo games..to which UM should have a thread
DM been watching the boxing and Taekwando in which Thailand have had some success ... but so far most entertaining has to be the womens football tournament ..some cracking games and heaps of goals in high scoring close fixtures and a shock or two already.
Real shame covid has downgraded the whole event without fans

The Earth is a sphere. Two points can be along the same longitude and still be on opposite sides of the "ball." [Edited by Moderators]jackspratt wrote: ↑July 22, 2021, 8:28 pm... hardly half way round the world. They are almost on the same time zone.

Re: Olympic Games 2032 Brisbane OZ
Yes, Giggle, they can. But Jack was talking about Brisbane to Tokyo, roughly 4,400 miles. The circumference of the earth is roughly 25,000 miles. Jack's right, it's hardly halfway around the world. To be more precise, it's less than a fifth of the way around the world.Giggle wrote: ↑July 25, 2021, 1:58 pmThe Earth is a sphere.
