Some time ago I was looking for a welder too, but wasn't lucky in getting any recommendations through UM.
Of the ones that I did find through other channels, I found the "falang surcharge" to be rather high. High to such an extent that I decided not to have the work done.
Then one of my GF's acquaintances who was visiting recommended Edison to us. He an honest, hard-working guy, and, what's more, the price he quoted for the work was less than half of the price of the highest offer we initially got from another guy!
He speaks nit-noy English but to avoid any misunderstandings it's better to leave the talking to your Thai partner, if any. His telephone number is 082157029.

Can you link to where you asked on UM?

Good morning Forum Members. I am looking for a shop that can weld cast Iron. The process would be stop drill the crack, and weld, grind both sides of the crack smooth. The crack is an inch long cast iron is .250 inch thick.
Regards

There is a guy on the road out of Udon to Khon Kean who could probably do it, he's actually a real welder with certs who worked overseas for years. He has 2 shops one for stainless and one for other metals he's located before the driving license place on the same side. Usually he has many gates and security steel in front of the shop and the other shop I've seen huge platforms being built worth a run out and asking sorry don't have his number as away at the moment but he does speak good English and knows his stuff

Thank you Dunroaming. I'll give this man a visit. Sounds promising. I'll post his services here.
Best Regards,
Colt

Do you mean these units on the northbound side heading towards Udon? There’s usually huge gantries outside although there doesn’t seem to be many the day the Google Map car drove past (& a bigass truck obscuring the street view🙄)

Niggly - yes looks like it he did my gate and security steel made a good job and actually told staff to fix things without being asked. He worked in Singapore on Exxon jobs and is fully coded. I have no complaints at all and wasn't crazy prices he also did doors in the small man cave at the back of the house.

Aah, okay.
If it helps the OP, this place is quite a way before the DLT, it’s before you go through Non Sung.

GPS is around (17.3101613, 102.8521093) & there’s a phone number on street view

There’s actually quite a large black & green sign roadside now advertising their services although it’s all in Thai
