Not quite a micko fantasy tale, as it's actually possible......

Trump resigns (as he and Pence, I guess are talking again) prior to 20 Jan, in order to have Pence pardon him.
* Only reason, I logically see this not happening would be if Pence declines the offer.

Benefit for Trump doing this:
- possibly derails the impeachment process. Allowing him to run in 2024.
- avoids the legal crap shoot of a self pardon (#1 reason).

Benefit for Pence (very little):
- might regain the support of Trumpers.
- re-enforces his loyalty to Trump.
* never mind, really no upside for Pence doing this. thus, decreasing it's possibility.

Good p[points, can ANY sane American even consider a Failed Man running again that scenario would finish America in my book.

Dream Ending to Trump's Presidency.
Trump resigns, followed by the following conversation.
Trump - Ok, President Pence it's time to pardon me.
Pence - Sorry, no can do!!!
Trump - But, you promised.....if I resigned you'd pardon me!!
Pence - I lied.

Interestingly even if he resigned and Pence pardoned him that would not protect him from impeachment. Impeachment is not a federal action it’s a congressional one and being out of office is no barrier to late impeachment. The pardon power is for federal offences only, state is not effected and neither is congressional.

Now if congress would impeach him if he quit is a different and more complex question and I have no opinion on it. His actions are so heinous that they may feel it’s the least worst option.

A different question. Is he mentally capable of quitting? It would be an absolute admission of defeate.

note: stated, "possibly derail the impeachment process"

note: if he has any sane advisors left, they should be pushing him to resign with / if Pence is willing to pardon him. a smart man would accept defeat and look to the best way of protecting himself post presidency (at least from Federal charges)......................yea, Trump isn't a smart / logical man..................so who knows what he'll do.

Possible Federal Charges w/ Penalties:

Treason - Most recently, the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act formally abolished the death penalty for
treason, replacing it with a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
Election Fraud - Fine and imprisonment for up to 5 years.
Campaign Finance Fraud - Fine and up to 5 years in jail (not 100% sure about this one, but it's close)
Federal Witness Tampering - punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Federal Obstruction of Justice (Mueller Probe) - law sets different sentences for different code sections.
For example, the code section made infamous by Presidents Nixon and Clinton (18 U.S.C. § 1505)
is punishable by a fine and imprisonment of up to five years.
Federal Tax Evasion - Federal law. Conviction of tax evasion may result in fines and imprisonment,
Punishment varies, depending on individual case.
Sedition - punishable by fines and up to 20 years in prison.

Expect more will pop-up once the new administration gets to see what's been going on in the WH over the past 4 years.

AlCapone was jailed for tax evasion.

That’s just one of the NY state investigators targets. Jail for long enough is enough, isn’t it?

It’s only one of the states that’s gunning for him. So a pardon will not be a get out of jail free card, just escaping the federal charges.

First Al Capone was convicted of......wait for it......Capone was indicted on 22 counts of federal income tax evasion, and convicted on only 5 counts.

On state filed tax evasion cases even when millions of dollars were involved, it's a crap shoot on actual prison time. Numerous cases where plea deals were made and charges reduced to a misdemeanor and sentence reduced to probation.
However, would expect (as it's Trump) NY Prosecutors will insist on jail time (from what I can find 5 years being the max allowed) along with hefty fines.

Forget to point out the obvious difference between possible state and federal fines/penalties, especially when you consider NY's highest tax rate of 8.82% vs Federal tax rate of 35-37%.

Here's a thought , how many times has the loser of the election held a political rally in Washington on the day the the electoral collage meets to vote ?. The election was over so why would anyone continue to keep electioneering ? Unless the rally wasn't about electioneering ,its only purpose seems to have been is to cause violence ,why else have a rally two weeks before he's out of a job .

Wouldn't it be great if the useless politicians would stop their bickering and start to do their jobs? A huge waste of time and money. Politics is a dirty business and stinks.

How can they do their jobs when the POTUS is having his minions attempt to assault them?

Double impeached... It don't get better than this, eh? Ten Republicans voted with the Democrats to impeach.

Oh yes, and NYC has canceled all contracts with Trump's organizations.

Trump has issued a short statement calling for total end to the violence.

Still waiting for micko's other shoe to fall.

I find it humorous that all these individuals are willing to go to prison and/or die for someone who doesn't give a rat's ass about them.

And he's still not conceded , so anything he says about violence is pure BS. His true believers will take it as a signal that the election was still stolen . Trump's stage act condemning violence is just a show. And that's how his base will see it.
