I use this website
Has most relevant data easily accessible

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Yes and look at the Column of Deaths per 1 Mill Pop and some of the Players.

Some declaim the way the USA has managed the Covid-19, but when it comes to the worst case scenario (Death), and the measure of the “Death Rate of Population”, the USA has a number of close friends in the EU, who have arguably managed it no better and in some cases, much worse. Take Belgium, the home of the EU Parliament, who leads the field, as a shining example of how to manage Covid-19. ??? [-X :fryingpan:

USA 759
Belgium 1242
Spain 872
UK 764
France 682
Sweden 609
Netherlands 495

Considering that all of the above purport to have very good or excellent health care systems, in their respective Countries, it does appear to have made any real difference, when it comes to your chance of going six feet under. :-k

To put it in perspective, in another way, the USA Death Rate, when measured as a Percentage of, "Deaths vs per Total No of Cases" identified, stands at 2.215%.

Yet that of Belgium is 2.691%, Spain is 2.731%, UK is 3.393%, France is 2.248%, Sweden is 3.476% and Netherlands is 1.895%. So once again these other developed countries have performed no better, by this measure, with some noticeably worse.

Thailand’s stats are much more admirable, compared to those above and it proven to be one of the safest places to be during this time. =D> =D>

given the virus is transmitted between people by them making contact with each other why are the figures not "deaths per square km"??? Surely if you have 1000 people per sq km you are more likely to get CV than if your nearest contact lives 2 km away.

While that certainly has some relevance you really need to add in the population density among other factors along with time as early cases had a much greater chance of death. So yes important but a very blunt tool by itself.

Population density has a huge bearing on the spread and numbers of deaths , so does population age. It does not kill many Africans simply because of low population density and the fact that many African countries do not have large populations over the age of 60. The opposite can be said for Europe .

What is Mexico's reason for such a high death rate to infected numbers ?
Nearly 10%
Egypt has a rate of about 5.4%
Iran has a rate of about 5%
UK has a rate of about 3.7 %
USA has a rate of about 2.2%
World rate is 2.4%
Australia is about 3.2%
New Zealand is about 1.2%

All part of the big 'we don't know'. Peru the same. Maybe cultural reasons as well. Maybe they didn't lock down fast enough , maybe they still attended church. Trying to compare countries is a waste of time as there is a myriad of variables

Other factors are how they report or count cases
Are they actually testing or just waiting till cases are under their noses

Gentlemen, they are by their nature Statistical “Averages" and or " Broad Indicators", as you are well aware. You are right in that they do not factor in all of the "Variables", that can potentially contribute to ones death as a result of exposure to Covid-19. But then again, like most statistical representations, they never do. The Stats to which I referred, simply present a broad form of analysis or one might say an “Overview Picture” and not one of absolute clarity/confirmation. Still we use what Statistics we have, or what ones are made available to us, for our assumptions.

If buy chance some analyst presented the same, purely for "Capital Cities” with like “Density in Population” and equally Living Standards, then yes it would present a more accurate picture for comparisons of "Deaths per Millions" and or "Deaths per Number of Cases" in that city. That I agree on, but I haven't seen it presented in this way so far.

Equally, I don't know how, one would factor in the Positives, of how many people in each of those Cities wore Masks and how many did not, or for how long each day they wore mask, to offset the negative potential impact pf population Density. One can also argue that living in a less dense populations may be a higher risk, because the people might take a more casual approach to interaction, than those of the city dweller and so not wear Masks as much or as often. The question is, no one really knows for sure. There is a Plus and a Minus, no matter whether you live in a Densely populated City or in a more Sparse population. :-k :-k

Even then, one can argue that other factors such as City Demographics, of age, race, sex, socio-economic interaction, sexual preference, employment, education, income, have some contribution to death rates. The list of potential factors, affecting those who catch Covid-19 and those who die from it, can be argued. I simply started with what was available, in the Link and will leave it at that. :drunk: :fryingpan:

I am aware that some Individual Countries do have more detailed analysis of what has occurred in their respective Countries, such as in the Link below, where they do look at more specific factors, such as case numbers in age & sex groups, death by age group and sex, but as yet I have not found it analyzed by City of a Like or by Population Density. I will leave this task to other Analysts to evaluate.

A very big factor will be testing the more you test the lower the percentage of positive results. So it’s extremely likely that Mexico, Egypt and Iran have high positive to test ratios so consequently are not recording anywhere near the real total number of cases.

Do you mean the more they test and the more truthfully each Country declares how many new cases they really do have? [-( 8) Agree. Some Countries are telling Porky Pies, I suspect. [-(

I doubt that any country is acutely reporting total infections and total deaths attributable to COVID-19
Many will be because they just don’t know, a number will be to downplay the problem.
If you think of the higher than normal mortality numbers in New York in March April outside hospitals that were very very likely to have been Covid-19, you have a don’t know case.
There is some uncertainty about truth of the government figures here, no sure evidence but doubt.

As to my meaning, if a country is only testing moderate to seriously symptomatic individuals they will miss a large percentage of mild or asymptomatic cases so suggest a very high infection to death rate.

Population age may be less of a factor than some think. Look at Japan where the over 60 population is huge

Sadly for the first time since May the USA has over 2,000 deaths
The numbers reported for the USA are almost certainly going to be changed later

Covid regulations will make it illegal to enter or leave Scotland
scotland closed.jpg
"The Scottish government has published draft regulations that make it illegal to enter or leave the country without a reasonable excuse, as well as significantly restricting travel within Scotland.

The regulations, which come into force on Friday at 6pm, were described as “deeply flawed” by opposition parties, which said they had “grave doubts” about the competence of Scottish ministers to legislate in this way."

Note the worrying 7day week on week increase 400 -> 550-> 650-> 850
Also the 7 day average of infections from 70,000 to 170,000 in the same period.
