Concrete Paving Machine

Post by Barney » October 26, 2020, 6:54 pm

For about a week now near our place there has been one of the rarest items in Thailand.
A machine that takes away people actually screeding concrete.
I thought an illuminated tail light on a scooter was rare but this takes the cake.
For years they have been creeping along the road from the Nong Khai end and finally a purpose built machine was introduced.
It works in total darkness at night and, as per Thai safety specs, with no warning lights, flag men or signs. It’s every man for himself to get around it. But that’s normal.

When it eventually breaks guaranteed they won't have the parts to replace and will end up in a field rusting away

Probably when they look for parts for a "screen" instead of a screed.

Got me
Edit provided for screening. Image

I’m still amazed they actually bought the machine in. The proof of the finished product will be when allowed to ride on it.
Hope it continues on its merry way for some time.
The concrete road is planned to be from The nong khai road 2 up to the intersection with road 2021. I’m told a 2 year project.

Well the concrete laying machine did it’s best and the main road is now 4 lanes wide. Just some fine detail concrete to finish and hopefully lane and turn markers painted.
Great job by the machine when in use and very quick and a good finish.
Unfortunately not all is a silver lining, this starting from the Nong khai road turning in just before the Esso is now quite a few kilometers long but is now a 4 lane racetrack. 90 to 100 km/hr for some. Enter from a side street at your peril with some lead foots not realising the danger of village people pulling out. Especially those who don’t look on a broken down tuk tuk with no lights.
The laying machine might come up to your airport intersection DM.

Air Force grey. They're not making any new runways at the moment.
