love fresh hard plums
I’d be worried about hard plums. Maybe a check when you next have a medical ;)

Put the plums in a bag with a banana that ripens them quick

Soft plums would probably also be a cause for concern.

The plums i bought today were as near to Victorias Plums than i can recall ever seeing and tasting here...

Athe mo my fav fruits has to be Longon/Lamyai , just a ballache peeling them .

on a related subject...its the hairy plums that concern me ... in my younger days i once woke up on the roof ov a Pattaya 2nd road shop house with some plums resting on my chin.. that was very concerning as the evening before i could ov sworn it was female !!.. thinking about it back then i was totally bonkers.

I doubt anyone will give you samplers so as long as you don't waste money on Boncafe's offerings, maybe get a bag of Phu Arabica from Makro. Also liked Nayung at their shop between the old and new terminals inside the airport but they may have closed; I need to check that out. There's some decent, locally grown packaged beans in smaller packages at Big-C: I'll take a picture and send.

If the convenience of 3-in-1 is missing, Essenso make a 2-in-1 (only coffee and creamer, no sugar) that's half decent. It's my backup when I can't be arsed.

Big C has Watties (From New Zealand) tinned spaghetti for 46 Baht per can.
Better than Heinz and half the price if you can get.
New to Big C and sold out very quickly last week as I went back for more the next day and all were gone.
Well worth a stock up while still there...!!!
About 50 cans left today in the Farang section.
After reading this post I bought them for the first time, my son absolutely loved it.For the last couple of weeks I can’t find them anywhere and I’ve run out of stock.Has anybody seen them on their travels in the last week around town?

Forget buying locally in shops – the beans are old i.e. roasted a month or two ago and can be poor quality/expensive
I order from Hillkoff and am very happy with the choices - all are freshly roasted

Aye-up DM, the UM coffee snobs are stirring...

There is some rubbish out there, mostly packaged in and imported from the likes of Singapore... not exactly the Brazil of the Far-East when it comes to coffee. The beans I recommended are locally grown in Nan and western Udon Thani, have roast dates on the packet and hermetically sealed so they are good for at least twelve months. Once opened, either keep the beans in their bag in the fridge. If their bag isn't resealing, stick that packet inside a Ziplok bag, seal and stick in the fridge. Takes me about 3 weeks to get through a 500 g bag. I did try mail order beans from a Chiang Rai grower several years ago, not too bad at all but that was before it became more of an industry in Thailand and good quality local stuff easy to get.

The stuff at Big C is The Coffee Bean brand and they do a medium roast or dark roast bean for 150 - 190 baht a pack.

There's also a special on in the farang food aisle for some Casino imported French stuff. I grabbed a pack (I think about 85 baht) and made a half pot and it's decent, so I will get some more.

Did you know this:
First, conventional coffee is among the most heavily chemically treated foods in the world. It is steeped in synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides – a real mouthful with a bad taste
Did you know this:

The biggest draw of organic coffee is that it's grown and harvested without chemical assistance. There are no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides used in the agricultural process. ... This means that organic coffee shoppers are getting home-grown beans without nasty additives of any kind.

This is my choice:

Doi Chaang Premium Classic 100%Arabica coffee Bean 250g

Get it at lazada..

Biohazard Ground Coffee, The World's Strongest Coffee 928 mg Caffeine (16 oz)

Drink it but check your heart first..Amazon sell this and i think e-bay too...never sleep again ;-)

Most coffee, beans or ground, already comes in a black (that's opaque) self sealing bag. The bags also have the same dimensions as a standard fridge bottle rack. I wonder why?

Unless custom installed during the construction, most Thai homes don't generally have a pantry or any place that can pass as "cool, dry and dark". Their existence in Isaan is even less likely.

Once you've loaded your daily grind, one reseals the bag, expelling the air while you do it. It's as good a vacuum pack as you need (and the simple procedure works for cheese too).

Apart from the fact that "freezer burn" can only ever happen to frozen meat products, never, ever keep coffee beans in the freezer. Vodka yes, coffee beans no.

This UM Coffee Snob moment brought to you by...

IMG_20190901_092340[1].jpg
@210 baht , ok to us , what i have learned over the years is that it is also important to have a good coffee maker ,info by a udon member, so when he threw away his broken coffeemaker , i toke it home and fixed it , old one but working again and making a nice cup of fresh coffee...what i also do to have variety in taste is mixing myself different brand of beans some successful some not , and second we all have different taste so difficult to advice some one else the best coffee , same goes for beers and other things ... ;)
forgot to mention , best coffee to me
1 shot cognac/1 shot grand marnier , heat them , pour on 2 coffee spoons of dark sugar cane sugar ,ad 1 coffee, mix all this and top of with half whipped non sugared cream, sprinkled with some cinnamon, or chocolate flakes or both... :D

Morning timmy !
thread now changed to the
,timmy nothing knew right..but we all want to help eachother right,so if the therad derail were's the Mods stopping us..DM and plums..coffee too..I'm NOT a HISO farang but i i like to try and put my money on good food and not food or coffee filled whith things like fillers and what not..don't you guys care anything at all what you put in your body?
Some facts mixed were to buy, best price, were to get the best deals/promos..and maybe some facts how healthy they are,or rather not healty...Don't like that HISO talk or links timmy.I rather pay a bit more to hopefully get some quality for my money.

Dm and others just didn't care to much until he himself, and i bet there are more Forum members that should follow suite,ie eat bit more healthy, exercise 30 min/day,and try to keep the hospital and medicin to a minimum,HISO or not. What you think timmy?Your thaughts and other members too...PAUL i know already your stance regaring me and my rants ;-)*SARCASM*

For me it's simple,a look in the mirror,it more or less tells me what i need or not need to do/change in my life. What about you?Enyoy everything BUT in moderation..agree??

Had to much coffee this morning that would explain my rant(s)...sorry guys

Have an awsome day today,be healthy, stay strong..sh** i feel i can write more..two cups of coffee is to much haha.

Hi i thought i would add a bit more info which sadly seems lacking on this topic . Ie fantastic cheap price without saying the prices , the size or where to find the products . info is free and i know a lot of guys like their gravy granules.
I was there about 11.30 am today . the granules are beef and vegetable and if you walk with the food aisles on the left they are the last one before the freezers. The same aisle as the bags of rice . Took me 20 mins to see them today . I bought 6 of each then noticed expiry date is dec 2020 . I think still ok .
quite a few still left as you can see from photo . they always seem to have this uk stock when the sell by date is near same as last year when i bought about 15 boxes of tesco tbags then found sell by date was a was not long gravyJPG.JPG but were still ok . Using august 2020 at the moment
did anyone try this gravy ? I tried the veg granules first , never had the veg ones before and they were foul , tasted old and mouldy . Today i tried the beef ones and they were the same . Disgusting taste . I see they were made for tesco in uk and the use by date was dec 2020 . Usually tescos own make is branded stuff and the granules with the onions tasted ok . I do not think tesco would sell something like this so i assume with the date and warmer climate they have gone off . anyway threw out 10 of them today

As I was stuck in traffic, I looked over and saw the "Open" sign on the glass door of Symphony Coffee but it's so dark in daylight, one would think otherwise.

No idea who was inside though.
