Marriage 40,000 a month

Post by mac1966 » July 20, 2020, 12:36 pm

I'm currently on a multiple entry non o visa based on marriage from savannakhet.

I'm considering applying for an non o visa from Udon based on 40 000 a month income from outside Thailand.

When first applying for this visa I understand you just need to show 2 months deposits into your Thai bank from abroad.

My question is do Udon need to see proof of your income ie pension statements and has anyone recently been through this process

Thai marriage visa requirements 2020.
Thai Marriage Visa requirements 2020 are different from other Non-Immigrant Visa, although the process for Marriage Visa is quite easy but you must ensure that all the documents are secured and you are qualified according to the Immigration Office.

Here are the following basic requirements you have to keep in mind for your Thai Marriage Visa application:

Passport (must be valid for at least 6 months and must have 2 blank pages)
Copy of your Thai marriage certificate (both versions);
Copy of your Thai wife’s ID card
Copy of your Thai wife’s Tabian Baan (House Registration Papers)
Copy of a map to your residence in Thailand
Copy of photos showing you and your wife together (House, Inside of the House, Family Picture, Outside of the House)
Copy of your bank book showing 400,000 THB in your bank account deposited at least 3 months prior to visa application or copy of your income showing 40,000 THB per month in income
Bank Guarantee and Bank Statement
The Immigration Office will require you to show the following documents in order for them to consider your Thai Marriage Visa application.

Marriage Registration with a Thai citizen doesn’t guarantee you will get Thai Marriage Visa, it will always depend on the documents you will show as stated above.

Also, the No.6 is only applicable for foreigners who have Thai Wife.

Hi, Dui,

"Copy of your bank book showing 400,000 THB in your bank account deposited at least 3 months prior to visa"

Are you sure it's 3 months prior for marriage ?

Thought marriage was 2 months.

Best wishes,
Doc

You are correct. It is 2 months before for all extensions now.
It has been 2 months for marriage extensions for as long as I know, at least for the last 6 years.

That website is incorrect. That is why you should only use immigration issued documents + information from people who have actually been to immigration (though immigration is not always consistent)

It's 2 months (before submission to UD immigration) and the 3rd month is achieved when your passport is away for a month

That is incorrect for general guidance. On my last extension I was not asked to show my bank information after my application.

You may be asked to show it or not. It is not definitely required.

Since the interpretation and implementation of their own marriage extension rules vary widely, does Udon Immigration specifically accept the 400k in the applicants Thai bank account with 2-months seasoning ONLY or do they accept the proof of a minimum of 40k baht income deposited in the applicants Thai bank account monthly with maybe 2 or 3 months history prior to the application?

I can confirm the 400,000 has to be in your account 60 days before you apply for your first visa. They don't ask where the funds come from.

I to would be interested about the 40,000 a month income method. Enquires on TV are 2 months deposit in your bank for your first application. However you need to show proof of income ie pension statement. I'm not sure if Udon ask for this

Thanks for that. I guess we wait for a local who may have tried and succeeded on the proof of income method. Of course once their office is quieter, I can drop by and ask.

Yes they do, you may be asked to return within the consideration period with further proof that the money is still there.

if it’s your first application and you are British Australian or American they should.

If you are from any other country they could insist on an embassy letter only.

They may ask for proof of the source of the income. If from Thailand they could ask for proof of income tax paid.

There is no requirement that your income is from abroad for a marriage extension it can be from Thailand, other documents may be asked for.

I applied and received my 60-day extension for a marriage visa at the Udon office mid-September. I spoke with someone who appeared to be a supervisor. (He had a yellow shirt and everyone else had blue shirts.) I asked about a combination of monthly deposits and a separate savings account. He said yes.

1. I will have 7 months of deposits into a Thai bank from a US bank of at least 40k a month. (I would not need this if the consulate provides a letter of income.)
2. I need a separate bank account to show a deposit date of at least 2 months, prior to visa, date for whatever amount. I need 200k, I will deposit 300k and hope I'm safe.

I'm building a case so that next year I will not have to have funds in a Thai bank. I only asked about the bank deposits and not about other documents. I will have this in place before my next visit and will see what happens.

There has been a miscommunication. Or you were misinformed

There is NO combination method available for a marriage extension.

You must either provide 12 months of proof of income of over 40k by an embassy letter if you are not British American or Australian or if you are you must have 12 months of international transfers into a Thai bank, the US embassy/consulate will not issue an income document.

OR you must show a bank deposit of over 400K held for 2 months before applying for the extension.

The combination method is ONLY available for extensions for retirement.

If you don’t have either the deposit or 12 months of transfer you will not get an extension.

———————————————————————

Further information. If this is your first extension you only need 2 months of international transfers, the 12 month is for the second and subsequent extensions. The lump sum is the same for all extensions.
