Righto.

I read a University of Texas (Austin) forecast has the daily US death rate hitting and peaking around 3,000 a day in late August.

It's been clear that the strategy of leaving Covid 19 management to the States in the US hasn't been working for ages. Trump needs to step up.

I think Trump is passing a poisoned chalice to President Biden since Covid 19 management has been hyper-politicized in the US. If Trump had pursued reasonable policies from the outset, that would have happened much less. I foresee many many Americans not getting on board with President Biden's response.

The problem is that the next president will have to actually do the job that the killer Orange has been avoiding for the last 6 months and will continue to avoid. If he can actually unite the United States he will have done a amazing job.

It isn't possible to unite the US. Too many important players such as the Dirty Digger have a significant interest in keeping major conflict dialled up. Trump post-presidency won't shut up either. He'll be banging the conflict drum very loudly. Every day.

There is a possible ray of hope, if the numbers are not being changed for political reasons, the past numbers of infections at around 15 days in the past seems to be translating into a lower death rate, if this is genuine rather than just a delay the chances of death are reduced.

Regrettably it’s becoming clear that there are long term after effects in some/many people who have been infected, these effects are not related to the severity of infection and apply to those who do not show any symptoms as much as to those with a more severe reaction.

However as the Orange required that information does not go to the CDC but only to the DHHS which is able to be politically controlled there could be faulty data.

It's good to see a global trend here when all these graphs clearly show that the coronavirus doesn't work weekends. Stay home Mon-Fri but go out and get bladdered at the weekend.

Not really. It’s the weekend drop off in reports. You can see that in the spreadsheet pictures. That is why I include the 7 day rolling average.

That is the death toll graph. Here is the infection one. Good idea to do that?

Regrettably exactly as predicted and the numbers look as if there may be a rising trend

PS this is a subject where black humour is not appropriate in my opinion (unless it’s in a forum specifically designated for it). I did understand it but it probably belongs on r/therewasanattempt. I decided to ignore the probable meaning just make clear that it’s wrong if taken literally.

There are too many people who will not understand the irony and take it on the words written. Just look at the stupidity being shown from the top down in the USA. That I assume you would not be idiotic enough and have the reasoning abilities to not do what you suggest doesn’t make the suggestion OK even as a joke.

Yes, there is a UM thread where the less gloomy members do share a whole world of Covid-19 related humor of all sorts of color.

Your suggestion that fellow UM forumites may follow my totally tongue in cheek (and not in the least bit black or ironical) comment on Covid being less of a risk at weekends suggests that you consider them to be less worldly, possibly less educated or otherwise a few bob short of a quid.

My apologies if I momentarily detracted from your earnest but gaudy colored Excel doomsday work.

PS: Much to his detriment, I doubt Trump follows this forum either.
