Udon Immigration office lately
Re: Udon Immigration office lately
Jon,
I agree.
With those kilometers, it's still new.
Bargain, but doesn't fit the "impress my friends" crew.

Re: Udon Immigration office lately
I saw some of that 'attitude' you speak of yesterday when I was there. The communication was mostly with my wife, so much so it was readily apparent. The woman doing my package went out of her way to not speak to me or so it seemed. My wife even told her to ask me, not her. My wife doesn’t know the difference between a visa or the lottery. Perhaps they feel more ground can be covered by Thai to Thai.AlexO wrote: ↑May 22, 2020, 3:40 pmHave to say that noticed yesterday there was a far less friendly atmosphere in the Udon IO. The new 'boss' of the front office seems to be anti farang with no communication skills except arrogant hand signals for come, go etc. This seems to have been transmitted to the desk staff as well as an evident reluctance to speak except in Thai. Lady who I know speaks fluent English hardly spoke a word except to my wife in Thai. The guy who used to do the 90 day reports was the exception, still friendly and helpful. The rule for the 800K in the bank for 2 before and 3 months after has now been law for 17 months but no request yesterday to verify amounts in my account for past year, yesterday.Tracechain wrote: ↑May 22, 2020, 1:27 pmI just returned from doing my yearly retirement extension thingy going the 800k deposit route. I had the standard bank letter plus another bank letter showing the last 6 months of account activity. Not sure why these can not be combined at the bank but it is easier to read the account activity letter than the bank book. Came here 11 years ago on a non-immigrant O visa and no mention of any health insurance. Nothing was mentioned about going below 800k. Only two people came in while we were there. That's all the latest and greatest if you go the 800k route. Now, do I need to file an after-action report to Mr. Immigration spring butt who pops up more than a porn hub ad? Looked for his picture hanging on the wall of fame at the IM office but didn't see it.
I would hope that most of us generally know what we need in order to satisfy immigration, and if not then some info on here will be good but If you don't put on a clean shirt and go ask but rather listen to the expert on here, then good luck because, at the end of the day, it still boils down to what happens when you go to immigration. I go the 800k route, not because I'm rolling in money, rather because I'm lazy and it seemed to be the easiest way to go and was one of the key prerequisites for making the decision to live here. You can throw in medical insurance here as well. But even then, I never know what to expect once I reach immigration. An example was yesterday. I never had to show an account listing letter provided by the bank. Bank books always sufficed. All of this was jabbered out to my wife, not me but not much I could do about it, so off on a five-minute walk to the bank and then the stamps were stamping, all were smiling and out I walk with my yearly visa….oops I mean extension or whatever, I get to stay another year knowing that next year will be another crapshoot. Even the 90-day guy with his neck brace on was all smiles!
Now, having said all this, so what! You will have a different experience when you go to immigration!
.
Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, hit 'em with the one they don't expect, and just keep hitting.

That’s why I never bring my wife with me to do my retirement extension. I want the officer to speak to me. They can speak English.Tracechain wrote: ↑May 23, 2020, 4:20 amThe woman doing my package went out of her way to not speak to me or so it seemed. My wife even told her to ask me, not her.

Re: Udon Immigration office lately
The immigration amnesty was primarily to reduce the hordes queuing up daily at offices nationwide. They have always stated that if it was safe and convenient to do reports, extensions or other business, then go ahead. It was never meant as a sweeping waiver to all immigration business. Most respondents on the big forum indicate experiences in line with DM's and several others here on UM.

You can try online for the 15 days leading up to June 10th, then you have at least until June 17 to do a normal 90 day report if you want to. ด.ต.Songrit will be the one who authorises your report.Doodoo wrote: ↑May 23, 2020, 1:22 pmOK Fellas here we go

There is no information about when those who haven’t reported will need to again. One suggestion is that you will be assumed to have reported on the due date so your next report will be 90 days after that. The one thing that is sure as can be is that everyone’s reporting date will not be August 1st.

All I can say is that on Thursday, the 90 day reporting desk has been renamed Temperature Check Desk. The officer (who no longer wears his neck brace) is the temperature checking guy with no cutie assistant in sight. He was called out of the back office to give me my 90 day report date bit of paper after extension issued. He was the only one who was in the least bit pleasant during the whole exercise.sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑May 23, 2020, 3:31 pmYou can try online for the 15 days leading up to June 10th, then you have at least until June 17 to do a normal 90 day report if you want to. ด.ต.Songrit will be the one who authorises your report.Doodoo wrote: ↑May 23, 2020, 1:22 pmOK Fellas here we go

Re: Udon Immigration office lately
One big problem with Thailand is people take a job for every reason under the sun other than the correct one...being uniquely gifted and called to the task with a genuine desire to serve your fellow man. People here take any job because they are desperate for work, or they buy their way into a job because it gives them big face and has great opportunity for corruption, or their parents coerce them to enter a certain field for which they are not mentally and emotionally equipped and the list goes on and on. I would say that the majority of the people in an immigration office have no business being there and absolutely hate their jobs. If they don't have a deep-seated desire to serve others, then they shouldn't be there....period! Sorry for being off topic, but I just had to say it!AlexO wrote: ↑May 23, 2020, 3:59 pmAll I can say is that on Thursday, the 90 day reporting desk has been renamed Temperature Check Desk. Very well put SFG ... IMO many people in government jobs are just there for the ride and perks .. not for the love of the job , im sure many intensely dislike their jobs hence offering a rather subdued and uninterested service.
I did notice a more quiet sombre feel to the udon immo office when i was there .. defo less chatter...i do admit to also noticing the young lady in immo who hangs around with neck brace is a real stunner she should be on the cat walk not stuck in that office ..UNSEEN Thailand ..terrible shame !!
Off topic warning - ive also found the Krungsri bank on Phosri Road is full of top totty , obviously the manager there who is quite a young fella has a good eye for talent... AC was on super cool and i sat in there for ages before some one asked me what i wanted to do .. fed up of isolation JUST BROWSING.

AS DM stated, I feel that that should include the VAST majority of lower rank RTP Officers, there are some very good and some very bad.
British Police used to be called a profession, but even them I feel are losing that title as new rules of concerning contracts, are making it more a job rather than a profession.

You had the same experience as me, they seem to be able to explain the new ruling but are somewhat vague on regards how they wish us to abide by them. My 3 months is up today (thank god) so my intention is to update my bank book and as I bank online print out a statement as well for the period. I still fear whatever you do it may not be enough so next year I’m definitely going to renew at the earliest opportunity leaving ample time to deal with any issues,my feeling is they may want a year statement from the bank which the consensus on here seems to be it could take a couple of weeks. I struggle to see much benefit of holding this visa and from what I can tell it hasn’t closed the corruption loopholes in fact the opposite. My son is 7 next year so hopefully I will change to a dependent but I will still have to apply for retirement beforehand.AlexO wrote: ↑May 21, 2020, 4:09 pmWas in today for my extension to stay based on retirement. Office was very quiet with only 3 people being served. Guy who used to do the 90 day reports is now checking temperatures inside the office. In and out with new 1 year extension in under 20 minutes. Lady official spoke to my wife and said that I should not go below 800K for 3 months, I asked how she would check and she just shrugged. Be interesting next year.
Regarding the atmosphere in the office it’s definitely changed ,feels like a scene from Invasiion of the Bodysnatchers. I have to spare a thought for them because if the guy people have mentioned on here is now in charge it’s worth remembering you may only have dealings with him for a few minutes they have to work with him all day.

The foreigner herd is being thinned by several factors. Very well could lead to fewer efforts by the Thai government to put more burdens upon us.

Re: Udon Immigration office lately
So apart from the change in atmosphere, where is the notorious Capt Aek in all this? Is he the new boss, migrated to a private air con office in the inner sanctum? A lot being made if the new live bait hottie at the front desk so where's the crocodile gone?
Re: Udon Immigration office lately
Which is the hottie? The MILF type looking one who where’s the uniform sitting at the desk ( my personal fav) or the one who greets you outside. No wonder the 90 day man suffers from a dodgy neck.

Sent my missus in a few days ago to get info and clarification on my visa and she said the place was completed empty and the guy who approached her was very friendly to her, explaining what was relevant to me.
All good now, don’t have to do anything and just have to sit it out and wait.

Re: Udon Immigration office lately
I don’t know who the ‘new Capt Bligh’ is but when I finished with my extension, I went over to the 90-day guy who is always friendly and remembers charging me 500 baht two years ago for passport transfer. As I was waiting one of the gals put the poster on his desk that you scan and check-in/out. I thought why not, might as well use some of my monthly 3G so I scanned it and then the whole office came over (we were the only ones in there) and started with glads to have and back-slapping, belching and farting and taking pictures of me doing it. So I reckon that somewhere in there was Capt Bligh but they all seemed nice enough treating me as a guinea pig and all the while I was just thinking WTF and wanting to get out of there!
