Posting to the UK
Posting to the UK
I have two letters that I have been trying to airmail to the UK, post office wants 1000 baht each or overland posting three months. Been trying for the last month now.
I have received five things from the UK post one was a to be signed for came in eight days.
Anyone had luck posting abroad?

Re: Posting to the UK
The post office quote the more expensive air mail option but there is a slightly slower second air mail option at a much reduced cost. We ran into this scenario a few times last year.
Re: Posting to the UK
I would get your missus to go into a post office alone and see what they say.

Re: Posting to the UK
If they are only letters you may try:-
Fedex
DHL
or the like.
Most countries post office services use commercial passenger flights to air freight mail. The major freight companys all have their own aircraft fleets with no international restrictions.
Just had 1st hand experience where I had a small package sent to me post express just prior to the virus ---- finished up in a sea freight container taking 2 months.
The post service refused any overseas mail shortly after.

"Thailand Post, however, cautioned that international services may still be subject to delays and told customers to be prepared for tardiness."
What? You mean their staff and posties can get even more indolent?

Re: Posting to the UK
I recently sent a document to the Foreign Office and it made it there in just under two weeks, I posted a cheque for my brother to bank for me and it took only 5 days, so despite the predicted Covid delays it was pretty much business as usual and the registered letter charge each time was less than 200 baht.tamada wrote: ↑May 21, 2020, 5:18 pmGood update, thanks. The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.
Re: Posting to the UK
Bit the bullet today and went to DHL, two letters in one packet 1266 baht that's still £32. For two very small letters. 0.5kg said to take one week. Sent to my daughter who will post them on.
One was for my pension so had to do it.

Re: Posting to the UK
I have my idle US office forwarding personal mail, including new plastic, to my sister in the UK via USPS as the US and UK international postal services are minimally disrupted. My sister will add this to my quarterly UK mail drop (that includes more new plastic) and send via DHL since the UK-Thai inbound mail is a bit of a lottery. Normally the UK mail drop is around 9 quid for international tracked and signed but unless they have hiked their charges, this will be more like 70 quid this time.
The handy thing about both post and courier these days is being able to book and prepay online. All my sister has to do is take my stuff to the Post Office, show the booking bar code and it's all handled by the clerk. With DHL, I arrange a date and time for collection from her house and it's in Thailand 3 days later.
Unless my inbound mail has any more of the UK bank's "Know Your Customer" rigmarole, I don't plan on sending anything there but if it's needed, then DHL will be getting my money.

Re: Posting to the UK
I had a parcel mailed from the uk last week, took 9 days to delivery at the house, got about the same time for delivery from Iherb. Thats the good news, also have quite a few parcels stuck in the system coming from US and China, totally inconsistent, lucky dip!
Re: Posting to the UK
My letters arrived in the UK in six days with DHL I can now relax and wait for a packet to arrive from the UK, it's a to be signed for usually comes in eights days.
