Funded by a real beauty, eh? Maybe just a wee bit of Anglican guilt there? I mean having become a billionaire and nominal world's richest woman on the back of iron ore sales to China and all that?

Anyway, pretty sure the Aussie version of the FDA will be along shortly to piss on her parade.
She (Gina) was already rich a long before, when Dad died in 1992. As far as I know Dad and now Gina, collects the royalties from Rio Tinto and or BHP Billiton, given Dad owns the rights to leases on land that is about half the size of Texas. Her portfolio is not all royalties from Iron Ore and coal, it also includes, Agriculture, Media and TV Networks. She is actually quite poor earning only US 2.74 Million per Day or US 114,155 per hour. Have to do some more research in her???

Not much different to all those US Billionaires, Hedge Fund Managers and Suites on Wall Street, who have been and still continue to piggy back on the Share Values of US Companies, trading through/with China and or others that specifically
manufacture in or sell direct in China, i.e. Apple, WA- MART, AVON, Cisco, GE, Johnson & Johnson, AT&T and the list goes on. So tell me who else in the USA and the World, isn’t getting filthy rich of the back of the Chinese. :-k :-k :-k

Best news I have seen since the CV-19 thing started:
Polly Waffle return fast-tracked due to the coronavirus crisis

But in one of the few bright sparks among the coronavirus doom and gloom, the famous log of marshmallowy goodness is rising from the dead.

Good news for all.
Loved the Hoadley’s Polly Waffle as a youngster. Later was Rowntree company.
Would hope the stimulus investment by the govt will lead to a long list of businesses coming back.

Radical lockdown measures may kill more people than the virus itself
07/05/2020|6min

Suicide rates will surge of the back of radical coronavirus restrictions with health experts warning the death toll could be ten times higher than the number of people killed by the virus itself.

The extraordinary and tragic forecast was modelled by academics at Sydney University and supported by the Australian Medical Association.

They found up to 1500 more people could commit suicide because of COVID-19.

AMA vice president Chris Zappala warned vunerable people who have lost their jobs due to lockdowns were the mot at risk.

“We must predict with the circumstances that exist with young people and vulnerable people who are likely to be out of work that there is going to be an increase,” he said.

Dr Zappala said the government needed to recognise that mental health was equally as important when drafting policy.

Day afterv day in the news crap like this

A NSW parliamentary inquiry has heard police were still issuing fines to people in the state for not having a valid excuse for being out of their house, hours after residents were told they can head to pubs and restaurants.

A 19-year-old man was fined at Emu Plains in Sydney's west on Friday night, at the same time some Sydneysiders were enjoying their first dinner out in months.

He copped the $1000 fine because he "could not provide a reasonable excuse for leaving home", according to NSW Police.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller told a parliamentary inquiry on Thursday that man can write to him if he wants to appeal the fine or take it court.

Asked whether people require a reasonable excuse to be out of their house, the Police Commissioner took the question on notice.

Have the police nothing better to do
The guy fined must have been a simpleton as should of said anything
ie going for exercise, going to the pub
what he probably said was fock off you swines

That's a big fine for a 19 year old. It would be interesting to see which groups of people were copping the fines too.

Not quite what was quoted, ie:
.........that man can write to him if he wants to appeal the fine OR take it court.
(My emphasis).

If my memory serves me correctly, the Commish said some time ago that he would personally review all fines issued under those laws (or something along those lines).

Your splitting hairs JS

The emphasis either way, was that the youngster could take his issue to the Court, regardless of the fact that he may have said "the man can write to him". He is still an arrogant F..ck

If he, the Commissioner had any balls or brains, he would have come out and publicly rescinded the 1,000 Fine, a being over the top. Just another useless Public Servant.

1,000 fine in Emu Plains?? BS

No, I'm not splitting hairs - it is you who is conflating hairs.

The guy (offender) has 3 choices:

- pay the fine

- ask the Commish to review (after he has been made aware of all the facts - which I am sure he didn't have at the time of the interview))

- fight it in court.

Please look at what the Commish actually said - it has nothing to do with balls or brains.

Some people insist that speed camera's are solely for revenue collecting so it was only a matter of time before another fiscal health and safety admonishment got similarly mislabeled.

The UK authorities have been taking similar flak for either disproportionate or scattergun enforcement of the stay at home directives. With the further easing of these restrictions, local authorities are signalling that approval for higher fines will be sought as more younger and outwardly clever looking people take more of the Mickey.

‘IT'S OUR HAPPY HOUR’: 50 punters allowed inside NSW pubs and restaurants
22/05/2020|4min

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has revealed up to 50 people will be allowed inside pubs, cafes and restaurants from June after she decided to roll back far more restrictions than anticipated.

“New South Wales will be taking an important, critical and big step from 1 June, where pubs, cafes, restaurants, and the like, will be able to have up to 50 patrons,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“However, this will be with very strict guidelines in place. It has to be in adherence to the four-square-metre rule. So, some venues are small in space. They will only be able to have as many customers as is allowed in that space according to the four-square-metre rule.”

However Ms Berejiklian said standing and “mingling” would be banned in order to allow the boosted number of people inside venues.

“Nobody will be able to take bookings of more than 10 people,” she said.

"A maximum booking of 10 people. And also nobody will be able to be standing up in these venues. You have to be seated at a table, even if it's a pub. You have to be seated at the table, you have to be served at the table. There is no mingling, no standing around.”

Gotta be a good thing coming out of Aussie that the country will not have to spend as much on COVID 19 social security payments. Figures were wrong from treasury and the ATO to the govt and now a saving of 60 billion dollars we don’t have to borrow. But is at least budgeted if needed later.
There are already those in politics making a negative out of this positive.
