Hasn't it dawned on anyone yet? The problem was calling it (Corona)Virus. Had they called it (West Ham). It would never have got in to Europe?

French leagues cancelled will the English leagues follow?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... ugust.html
It was the French Government who stepped in to cancel the leagues.
Maybe the UK Government will do the same ? :-k

REVEALED: Premier League clubs have been briefing their staff that football will return by June 13 - or even as early as June 6 - with pre-season training scheduled to start in mid-May
At least two clubs have told staff to aim for a re-start in the middle of June
Clubs will be allowed to make their own decisions on group training sessions
After weeks of uncertainty it appears the season will finally be concluded
All 20 clubs will reconvene on Friday for a Premier League shareholders meeting

If they (as expected) say 2019/20 will not be completed, which is now a case of WHEN they announce it rather than IF. the only thing left is to work out the placings (or not)

all the teams join and agree to the rules of the league
The rules state that after 38 games the team with most points will be champions and the 3 teams with the worst records will be relegated
If they try to do an "average points per game" (West Ham/Villa/Norwich relegated) or have a 29 game season and take the current positions (Bomo/Villa/Norwich relegated) they will face legal action which they will be unable to defend and will end up paying compensation
If they say that due to unforseen circumstances (a pandemic/act of God) they were unable to complete the fixtures by the originally set date (agreed to by every club when they agreed to participate) the season gets "voided" and no court would find against them so no compensation
Why would they even consider doing anything other than "voiding the 2019/20 season"

BeIN Sports and Canal have both refused to make TV payments to the French FA after the decision to cancel the Ligue 1 season.

France followed the Netherland's decision to finish the 2019/20 season after advice from the French government.

Unlike the Eredivisie, Ligue 1 is still expected to have promotion, relegation and a title winner, with Paris-Saint Germain 12 points clear at the top of the standings, although an official announcement is yet to be made on how the table will be settled.

That decision has created further problems though, with TV companies refusing to make rights payments.

Yet another reason why the Prem will expunge the season and make sure it gets classed as an "act of God" so as not to be forced to pay back TV fees. They need the UK govt to say no matches before end of June before they can make any announcement coz if they expunge it first they will be deemed to have made the decision on financial grounds and can get legally challenged

Not sure where the Prem have got the June 8th restart from (may be altered at todays meeting)

It is IMPOSSIBLE to restart on 8th June if they maintain the 4 weeks training idea

There are currently at least 8 Man City first team regulars (+Pep) who are currently in their home country

Even if non UK citizens (oops) are allowed access (currently 31 May at earliest as far as I can see) they will still need to go into 14 days quarantine before starting to train with their team mates.

Possible restart cannot be before mid July at very earliest

Meeting abandoned after 4 hrs with no decision ...... who didnt see that coming??

Re convene next week ........... hopefully by that time the govt will have given them the excuse they need to "void" the season quoting "act of god" and thus avoid coping a load of lawsuits

bit more info today re contracts .......they now admit they cant extend OOC players deals (as stated on udonmap 3 weeks ago) and whats more any player agreeing to play after 30th will automatically lose his one month "severence pay" he would have been entitled to
