Closing entertainment, bars and nightlife in Thailand

Post by Raoul Duke » March 15, 2020, 7:41 am

They wouldn't would they?
Anutin Charnvirakul, announced yesterday at a press conference that he will be speaking to the Prime Minister tomorrow about stepping up stricter measure regarding this dreaded virus.
One of the items to be tabled apparently is to shut down selected bars, entertainment venues and nightlife across Thailand.

This was being talked about in Bkk last Thursday .. the consensus of opinion was the smaller bars and restaurants shouldnt be closed but maybe the bigger busier night clubs that get packed with sweaty gyrating revelers.

If they do close the bigger bars/clubs I expect the ladies of the evening will be marching on Bangkok demanding the government reimburse them for lost wages.

The night life venues in Manila, Vietnam and Spain are shut down, only a matter of time untill they are here.

It is much the same in other nations, for example:

The Latest: France closes all restaurants, cafes and shops. French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced that France is shutting down all restaurants, cafes, cinemas and non-essential retail shops, starting Sunday, to combat the accelerated spread of the virus in the country.

He said grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and other public services including transport will be allowed to remain open.

French authorities had already shut down all schools, banned gatherings of more than 100 people and advised people to limit their social life. Philippe said these measures were “not well implemented.”

This and a great many other closures and restrictions by various nations are cited in the following article.

Spain itself is on shutdown for at least 15 days from 8am Monday, as announced by the Spanish PM, they are the most seriously affected after Italy.

That isn’t showing on the APnews link above, yet.

The sooner the better, short term pain for long term gain. Everyone needs to take this serious, too many have waited too long.
