Pound looking good.

Post by Old Grumpy » December 12, 2019, 2:59 pm

The doors are open , let voting commence. The money markets are quietly confident of the result, hence the pound back to 40 again, its looking promising, but will get better if Bojo wins, the bigger the margin the better the pound.
By breakfast time tomorrow we will have a good idea, hopefully Bojo will be breaking out the champagne and Corbyn will be signing on for his dole money, \:D/

Dought if the any improvement in the Pound will greatly help in the exchange rate, maybe a few satang. It's more about demand and need for the currency and I just don't see that improving much until the baht weakens a lot.
P.S. This goes for the U.S. dollar too.

So very true. The u.s. dollar it's supposed to be strong right now, but it still is only getting 30.2 baht to the dollar.

You can forget what is on Udon Map front page for exchange rate, thats for big money exchanges such as bank to bank, not us lowly small money people. As for Transferwise, know nothing about their rate but would only rely on whatvis gotten on a transfer when done.

When I was in Pattaya this past May, I was pleasantly surprised that at TT Exchange, they were actually buying the US dollar at the going rate on a daily basis, anywhere from$31.7 to $31.9.

Transferwise is a Very Good rate with a LOWISH Transfer rate,Guaranteed for usually 24 hours,Forget Udonmap That's ONLY For the BIG Boys !!
At the moment Tranferwise are offering 40.64 Baht to The Pound.. With Charges so 1,000 GBP = 40,375 Baht....
But a bit nearer Home ( Nong Khai ) Superrich is offering 40.50 NO Commission.....So 1000 GBP = 40,500 Baht....

So It's UP 2 U !!!

I was looking at some historical rates at fxtop.com, and in January 1998, 1 GBP was getting 90.67 THB. Anybody on here in Thailand during that time?

yes i was and the best i got was 99 to the pound in BKK .the numbers on the sign board were changing by the hours at the cambios due to distressed baht ..but it was hard to call the top as some were changing wads of money at 80s and then cashing in currencies at lower rates ,,it was pandemonium at the cambios as different banks had different rates and uncle tom cobbley was changing every foreign currency they had in wads
the rates briefly touched 101 to the pound in the local cambio .but next day it plunged back to the 80s so the top was over

i was building my house at the time so materials worked out very cheap .bags of cement were peanuts and lorry loads of ballast and sand was peanuts
the only good Tory is a lavatory
