To me life is but a relay race, we have done our leg and now passed the baton on to the next generation, how fast they go is up to them, time for us to sit back and watch them .

Excellent way to sumerise.... wouldnt it be great if all in the garde was rosey n generations handed over a perfect world over n over again .. alas dont work like that n every generation will have to muddke their way thru best as they can ..wether its in wars or health n climate issues etc.Old Grumpy wrote: ↑December 11, 2019, 6:02 amTo me life is but a relay race, we have done our leg and now passed the baton on to the next generation, how fast they go is up to them, time for us to sit back and watch them .
My parents gave me all they coukd to help througout my life but i cut the apron strings many years ago .. we got to find our own path in life ... and one way to do it is to try to vote the right way at any given time so as it offers the best chance of a better life .. this election the only option fir that is Bojo as all others are so bad and IMO offer the opppsite n will devastate the country my daughter n her familt still reside in

It's more like a sack race these days. I reckon the ill-conceived Tory/Lib Dem's 3-legged race started it.Old Grumpy wrote: ↑December 11, 2019, 6:02 amTo me life is but a relay race, we have done our leg and now passed the baton on to the next generation, how fast they go is up to them, time for us to sit back and watch them .

The ------ in this case is clearly the guy who made the Youtube you link to - Mahyar Tousi.
When trying to defend Johnson, he uses different camera angles (ie initially only uses close-ups) to that appearing in the original video from the ITV reporter, to try and discredit the reporter.
FAKE NEWS
However, the first thing that jumps out from Mr Tousi's YT is that he is also using it try and flog Brexit merchandise.

The ITV video, plus other details, are all here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-12-11/ ... r/11789014.......Details of the Yorkshire Post's story were confirmed by a written statement, issued by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust chief medical officer Dr Yvette Oade, that included an apology to Jack and his family.
"We are extremely sorry that there were only chairs available in the treatment room, and no bed. This falls below our usual high standards, and for this we would like to sincerely apologise to Jack and his family," Dr Oade said......

The U.K.'s Christmas Election
Your probably correct in your summation Mr Spratt but most times the baton is not always poisoned but gets dropped by the mob in power, then a change of govt has to start again then stuffs it all up again until they also drop it.jackspratt wrote:Too bad I guess if the baton we are passing on is rapidly becoming more and more poisonous, with a good chance of infecting the recipients, and then their children, and then ........Old Grumpy wrote: ↑December 11, 2019, 6:02 amTo me life is but a relay race, we have done our leg and now passed the baton on to the next generation, how fast they go is up to them, time for us to sit back and watch them .

All countries can and do throw out the best leader their country has ever had throughout modern times. They and their policies never last usually attacked by a backstabber or lying opposition. For some crazy reason the human race is always trying to reinvent the wheel.
Some times things aren’t broke.

Re: The U.K.'s Christmas Election
A very great man once said, "The language of priorities is the religion of Socialism".
That man was Aneurin Bevan.
Having read and digested the Labour Manifesto I have had no hesitance in casting my vote for the Labour candidate.
Although I am now retired, I was particularly taken by the 'Green Industrial Revolution', which attempts to bequeath a livable world for first-time voters.
It is a very detailed and far-reaching manifesto and after the Labour Party have been elected they will need a painstaking process of the 'language of priorities'.
No other party can match their need for change or vision for the future.
There is only one way for a man, or woman, with concern for all of humanity to vote.

Re: The U.K.'s Christmas Election
I dont read socialist propaganda , but does it say how they propose to pay for all this wonderful change , or how they are going to get the money ?
Remember the last election when they promised to scrap student fees , and write off student debts .
If you have no chance of winning you can promise the earth and beyond , can you not .
Corbyn and his motley crew are a mere shadow of Bevins labour party , and a threat to the country .

Re: The U.K.'s Christmas Election
I am voting with my conscience, not my heart or my gut, but my conscience.
Looking back on how Labour repeatedly did nothing for the NHS when they were in power and how quickly and desperately Corbyn lamped on the the 'boy on the floor' NHS scandal that never was...
Looking back on how Johnson has flim-flammed and flip-flopped his way around any in-depth questioning of Tory policy, including a consistent trait to say things that are contrary to what his own ministers are saying and what is own deal is claiming...
Looking back on how the Lib Dems shot themselves in the foot right from the get go with their hapless revoke Article 50 nonsense delivered alongside Swinsons' poor (wo)mans 'I have a dream' moment and then belatedly realizing their horse had truly bolted, urging people to vote tactically...
And totally discounting the narcissism and self-aggrandizement that drives the Brexit party and the SNP respectively...
The constituency I am voting in is one of those marginal ones. Labour are freshly incumbent after many years of a Tory representation that largely did nothing but check the party line boxes and cash their cheques. So the Tories have a younger, brighter and quite likeable candidate this time around. The Labour incumbent is also younger, likeable, very motivated and socially active but again, just a rote box checker.... who, on reviewing her voting record on successive Brexit bills in the last parliament, appears able to ignore that her constituents voted resoundingly to Leave in the referendum.
Despite the special interests that have hijacked a Swedish schoolgirls concerns for her environment and ignoring the monster raving loonyness of the Extinction Rebellion, regardless of my two score and two years working as a white Anglo-saxon male exclusively in the hydrocarbon sector where they probably consider my life's work achievements as being recklessly damaging and ultimately worthless, I am voting Green.
Not for me. For my children and their children.
