It is estimated that about 12 million barrels of oil a year are used in making the plastic bags used in just the US.

The top 5 countries to dispose of plastc into our waterways are here in Asia They dump more than the whole world put together.

Production increased exponentially, from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 448 million tons by 2015. Production is expected to double by 2050.

Every year, about 8 million tons of plastic waste escapes into the oceans from coastal nations. That’s the equivalent of setting five garbage bags full of trash on every foot of coastline around the world.

Damn the oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and streams are chocking on this stuff with only more to come unless You Guessed It we do something about it.

The 5 in Asia dump trash in the oceans say 100 tons (not a real figure)
The rest of the world totaled dump 99 tons (not a real figure)

ANSWER That is how they dump more

No explanation needed as I am not an eniromentalist, scientist, GreenPeace type. I just find data Cut and Paste If you need to find out more, Copy my post and Google/Yahoo it

"China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand & Vietnam dump more plastic into oceans than the rest of the world combined."

Statts isn't being obtuse, he's simply being pedantic.

And you asked for it by your somewhat imprecise original copy/paste that lacked the citation we are now grateful for.

How do they battle this plastic trash crisis? Can't burn it, shred it and even the 'biodegradable' ones have been found to only breakdown into micro-particles that can still enter the food chain.

A fellow engineer and friend of mine got into the cutting edge of recycling plastic in Houston some time around 2010. Unfortunately their research, development and deployment of bespoke, state-of-the-art plastic recycling technology foundered within 2 years when the cost of simply renting storage for all this bulk plastic waste destroyed their budget.

Meanwhile, remember those fragile, heavy and totally inconvenient glass milk bottles?

"Staff at Mossgiel farm hope to promote a more sustainable model of dairy farming, including delivering milk in reusable glass bottles"

Bless the Scots and their (re)inventiveness!

And of course the money charged for the bags you use will go to it's rightful place.
Yeah....wouldn't hold my breath, especially in Thailand.
Coles in Aus currently in the cattle dip from failing to pass the " badly needed by dairy farmers" all of the extra 10c they were charging customers for drought relief.
