I believe a lot of Embassy's such as the one in London will no longer issue 1 year multiple entry Non O visas.
The will only issue a 3 month single entry.

Use the single entry then get a new 1 year one in a bordering country
Does not seem that difficult

No need for money in a Thai bank is one reason.

Another is the 2 year effective validity of a multi-OA.

May not be so attractive in future if the new insurance requirement becomes a fact of life.

Is that the criteria at the Thai Embassy in London? Receiving a UK state pension?

It seems strange that the MFA says eligibility for the 50-and-up but their Embassy says you have to be 60-something-and-up and thus legally retired?

My understanding is the newly announced mandatory insurance needs is for O-A applicants and (so far) hasn't been linked to Non-O's for retirement or marriage.

It was when I applied in June 2018 (see separate thread).

I am presently on the 2nd year of my OA visa and, on its expiry, will need to give thought as to how I apply again next June. My own personal circumstances are that I have full insurance cover under an annual Travel Policy so, any need for Medical Insurance locally would be a waste of money and provide me with inferior cover to that which I presently have.

Not ideal but, it is what it is and totally understand what our hosts are attempting to do. Just feel sad that my life is complicated by all the irresponsible dickheads who populate the world. I worked hard and paid millions in tax to support wasters in the UK and thought I had avoided that by trying to live a quiet and peaceful life out here.

If you mean extension based on marriage you do need money, either 400k in the bank or 40k pm income. Unless the rules have changed again....

Possibly referring to the non-o multi entry from Savannakhet based on marriage.

Yes but only at those 2 all the others, Vientiane, Penang, Singapore, etc require proof of the same amount as the extension, though only in the bank not seasoned.
