Microsleep

Post by parrot » October 7, 2019, 5:22 pm

On the way back from KaoSuanKwang today, along the KK Hwy, these signs appeared. I've never heard of microsleep........but indeed, microsleep is a thing, often when you drive.

Few cars on the KK Hwy today.......going and returning. Smooth sailing but some rough patches in the slow lanes.

I experienced Microsleep once while driving through Glencoe, Scotland, very frightening. I had had a full nights sleep before setting out. No re-occurance thankfully. However, it would not be too high up on my list of necessary road signs in Thailand.

It's something I learned all about in my first year of professional driving and the ways to avoid it.

I would work driving around London until 6pm then have dinner and drive 200~250 miles at a maximum of 50mph then start driving again at 8:30 next morning to arrive back in London by 5pm. So yes Microsleep is absolutely real but as long as you know the signs avoidable with short naps.
