That's the first casualties of the day. The Long Bean frames took off about 5 minutes ago. Winds coming from the north and strengthening. Not a day for umbrella's or golf.

Not too bad yesterday. Lost a couple of the climbing frames that had the green shading material acting like sails and a couple of top heavy papaya tree's. Hope everyone came through Ok.

We aborted a trip into town yesturday lunchtime , when the heavens opened and you couldnt see further than 20 meters .
Arrived back home to find two 35 plus foot trees leaning perilously towards the house , the ground so saturated over the last few days , the strong winds just pushing them over .
The wife went to the local tesabans office , and gotta say i was impressed with the results .
Within an hour 6 guys turned up with chain saws , a tipper , ropes , and a cherry picker , and had them cut down safely within a couple of more hours , and they are now in pieces on my front lawn waiting for the local charcoal man to come and collect the remains .
Asked the head man who also attended , the cost , just a case of beer for the boys .
So , all you doubters and cynics out there who think Thailand has had its day , i say where would you get that service ?
In the U K it would take weeks just to get a permit , by which time i would of been looking at a huge roof repair .

heavy winds and one period of torrential rain on the east side. Winds blew down something nearby and ba-boom the power went out at noontime.. PEA must have been doing many restoral jobs because their usual 1.5 to 2 hours to get it back on stretched until 9PM.. Other than gusting winds all afternoon and evening and one spate of heavy rain, not too bad...

Went to Complex (Centra) yesterday 1 ish, left 2 ish saw a couple of dead coconut branches being picked up near temple, nothing else, No wind, No rain, nothing. Centra parking was full, even the usual empty 5th floor. When leaving 5th floor had a couple of puddles. Last night West side, light rain. Storm? What storm?

Opened up again yesterday in town just before the 3:30 pm school run where it appears a lot of cars and pickups were used instead of the motorbikes. Accordingly, the Friday traffic gridlock started earlier and was thicker than usual. Heavy on the ring roads at 6 pm and it was still raining off and on through midnight when I tapped out.

Never mind, it was a great night to be trapped at the UTTH on their free-beer Friday.

With all the rain of recent times and some boredom setting in we decided to get in the truck and head up towards Nong Khai to a great riverside restaurant we haven't been to for some time in Wiankuk village on the Mekong to see if the river has reached any great heights. Turn off left on route 211 up a bit and turn right into Wiankuk.
Had a couple of real good meals of different Mekong fish today plus a lovely crab curry. That was the highlight.
We were the only ones there and on talking to the waitress enquired why the river was down. She says late wet and if the rains had come in August like normal the water would normally be up near the restaurant. If that's the case then while it is flowing strongly it does look to be about 8mtrs low. Maybe we have more precipitation to come to make up for the late seasonal rain.

That restaurant is "Vientiane." And the river can rise easily a meter a day. This is early Sep. I was here in 2009 when that place was underwater.

Noticed they have deployed at least a couple of long-reach back hoe's to scoop the vegetation out of those bigger ring-roadside canals or waterways.

My place backs onto the royal irrigation lake and it is now chokers. All areas are just sitting with roads covered in some areas. No water in or out. The drainage gates in and out closed. Water will just keep backing up now.
These photos are on the bridge at the main entrance over the main water channel out. It’s the same depth as the lake. Normally at least a 5 or 6 meter dry culvert.

Have had buckets of rain down our way (just pat Ban Chan) over the past 10 or so, days/nights, and some very strong winds one night about 5 nights back.

Get the odd few puddle areas in the low spots of the main road, but overall we are high a dry with no risk of flooding whatsoever. \:D/ \:D/

Bucketting down just south of Ban Chan.

Wouldn't be surprised if we have get 2 inches if rain in the last hour and a half

Not so much flooding at all but couldnt find the general.weather thread.
Some very unseasonal weather at mo ..theres even a big difference in upper n lower isaan .
Just had a day or so in udon then returned to buriram to do lower isaan deliveries ..
Udon very dry sunny n pleasant overnight low 22 23 24 °..
Dm was out the blocks early pre 6am on the road to sisaket ubon surin etc and it was cool.no cold ..18 registered in the village but more strange was the heavy fog ..real scunny style pea souper. .. passed thru numerous small places n the local.were wearing more clothes than a Russian orphange huddled around roadside fires adding to the atmos..
This shouldnt be happening yet SHOULD IT ?? .. by 9am fog burnt off n gloriously sunny with a light breeze .

Just as info ..

Dm
Claret n Blue all way thru .. Up the Iron
