England being unbackable favourites should make a handy 300 odd tonight to secure a first up win against the struggling proteas.
Dark horse will be the WI’s who just seem to want to smash 6 each time at bat.

Well the favourites certainly got the chocolates against SA. Well done.
Each team will peak at some stage during the tournament and England have certainly peaked, their supporters will hope not to early. England do have a bridesmaid tag in the 50 over format at world cups to get rid of this time around. Watching others take the finals trophy is something they are familiar with. But in saying that, this time around with the home ground and supporter base advantage and the best 50 over batting lineup ever ( according to the English commentators ) and a bowling squad to match the best the rest can offer, perhaps England can live up to the hype, something their soccer team cant do in world cups, and bring home the world cup for a first time.
Its a long tournament though and there is one team who may challenge them.

I hope the English have a dreadful tournament. I want to see the English media turn on them. It's awesome entertainment watching the English media turn on one of their teams. It's as ugly as a furious Blackadder going after Baldrick. 8)

Going by previous World Cups played in England I think you can include Pakistan and the West Indies. :(

Could be a good call. Do not know the makeup of the Brit society these days, but your claim will be tested tonight. WI play the Pakis in Nottingham today.
Crystal ball says WI’s to smash them out of the park.

It will be interesting to see if we can get through the tournament without anything looking a bit dodgy (i.e. fixed). I suspect not.

Why would you denigrate you NZ team with that comment?
They should make a good showing of it this time around.

Pakistan is the team that I usually think is the most iffy. They've thrown games against New Zealand before.

Yes, the NZ team is supposed to be fairly useful at present but I don't follow cricket closely these days. I'm probably more interested in the off field shenanigans. We must be overdue another Shane Warne scandal.

So GT you admit your just trolling and not interested in what goes on out in the field.
Now I know I can just disregard your comments on the World Cup, same as I do for most of your posts on other threads.
NZ play SL today and that should be of more interest to you and fellow kiwis than so called shenanigans or other non field related stories.
My prediction today is NZ to defeat SL and Aussies to defeat Afghanistan.
With Warner and Smith to be booed again, but to throw it back at the crowd with big scores to their name again. I may be proven wrong though.

No "not trolling". My focus is just different from yours and that doesn't make me a troll. Cricket has some very very serious corruption issues. I think Justin Langer's comments asking fans not to boo the Aussie cheats are outrageous. I now think Smith and Warner should have got life bans from the World Cup (and other sanctions). It's outrageous that they can play. Corruption is a huge disincentive to follow cricket. The English fans should give them heaps.

Credit to the Poms. They tried to lock up Chris Cairns and he should be doing time.

The World Cup is the World Cup. It's an important cricket highlight.

Life GT! That's a bit harsh mate. What they should have got is what all the others caught ball tampering got in the last 20 years, that would be a game or two or nothing. They weren't match fixing, just a bit of sandpaper and how is that any different from sun cream, hair gel, lollies, sand and dust in the pocket or any other ball tampering method various cricketers from various countries have been caught doing over time. They weren't fixing matches like Hanse or Azaruddin.
I'd expect Australia to win this world cup with relative ease as we usually do. The only team I could see troubling us would be India and after that the major worry is the pommy weather. England, South Africa and NZ never seem to have the ticker to go all the way when it gets a bit warm in the kitchen and I wouldn't imagine anything has changed.

OK life bans are a bit harsh but they got off fairly lightly as have some others and I still think Langer is being really cheeky. I'm still on the fence if there's an England - Oz final. The English media dissecting their team is always a real treat.

So far all 4 games going to the script. Easy wins in well less then the 50 allocated overs. I can’t see the games just online description, have heard nothing about the pitches god or bad so it must just be the dominant teams are just much better.
Will the fickle British weather play a part later? I don’t have that local knowledge.
SA to bounce back and defeat Bangladesh today.
