Re: Insurance mandatory for long-stay foreigners
According to Ubon Joe on TV it only applies when you want an OA long stay visa when getting it from the the Thai Embassy in your home country.

Respect sir! 88 is far, far more than a 'good innings' as my late dad would say.mathusalah80 wrote: ↑May 15, 2019, 11:04 amIn which case, at my current age of 88 years, I would be considered already dead! So presumably I would be exempt from this requirement!
Think of how you may have dodged the bullet back in the UK where, once you have turned the grand old age of 70 (65 for women) the 'wonderful' NHS employ a sliding scale of palliative care that is inversely proportional to the amount of prescriptions they dole out to address the incrementally failing health caused by the sliding scale of palliative care...
And it's free!
(In Scotland, even the drugs are free)

Hold on Boys until the dust settles
We have seen many new rules incorporated and weeks later they pull them back and circle the wagons, examples would be the new law of no one riding in the back of pickups, no need to carry a drivers license any more, no issuing of Red Plates anymore etc
One thing that could be done and should be done is a Grand Father clause for this that choose. Also this should not start now but a given date in the future to iron out all the bugs before implementing, say Year End 2019. This will help the Expats and also the Immigration Outlets to adjust. Clarify the amount of cash is needed if you cant get insurance in writing Kingdom wise, in WRITING for ALL to see and adhere to
Can only hope this change will in the end not affect many Expats

As I posted elsewhere:
Proposed mandatory health insurance
Bt40,000 coverage for outpatient treatment
Bt400,000 coverage for inpatient treatments
Source:Department of Health Service Support
Wouldn't the 800K required for a retirement extension cover this?
Increase amount in marriage account to 440K and it is covered also.
Am I missing something here?

Re: Insurance mandatory for long-stay foreigners
Believe it is stupid telling dumb something more stupid and then getting an answer which is reported as law
Re: Insurance mandatory for long-stay foreigners
With this logic there will be no more O-A visas but just O visas as stated in article no insurance need there
