proof of life

Post by papafarang » November 14, 2018, 8:35 am

i'm trying to help an old lady out here , she holds a british passport. she receives a pension from the uk and has to fill out the proof of life form . from what I can make out they stopped her pension in july, and it seems she didn't send proof until this October 3rd. so I can understand the stoppage. but I wonder if anyone else has had this and i'm wondering how long it will take for the old dears pension to be sorted. the letter was sent by EMS so i'm guessing it got there . also I might need to call them so any advise on cheap calls needed too . thanks

Dean Use Skype cheap and good quality calls, failing that you can buy a international phone card from many outlets

I called them on Skype to ask if they received my Proof of Life & if it was approved.
It costs less than 2 baht /min when calling a landline.
If you have her National Insurance number ready you will be on the phone no more than 4 mins.

I haven't got her NI number, but I do have a number for reference when they are contacted . just had a look at some of the paperwork. last year she sent the paperwork in march and it was sorted out and she got paid. as I say I think she basically sent this years 8 months late, I don't think she realized it has to be done yearly. I will pm you with her name and address with the ref number. feel sorry for the poor old girl, it's only a small pension but I guess it's her only income.

yes she has sent back roof of life , I just think it was more than 8 weeks , how they expect someone who's native language is not English to understand these forms is beyond me. lets hope we can help the old biddy.

For future reference of Life Certificates.
Just contacted the Pensions people.
Gave the Reference/NI number.

They were extremely helpful & informed me the Life Certificate had been received & approved.
However it had not been actioned yet.

Asked them if they could action it & the woman I talked to did it on the computer whilst I waited.
They assured me that the payments plus all back money due would be paid within 9 working days.

Luckily when they asked for the name I gave the Thai name so she assumed I was MR Praphai not Mrs.
Anway Dean will give her the good news.

Total time on Skype approx 8 mins cost about 11 baht

Thanks very much mate, she came here because she didn't know what to do. she tried to call but didn't understand the other person and what was being said. old lady of 76. I told her she must send proof strait away next time and then check to see if it arrived. apparently she had been in hospital for some time which delayed sending it .
she said to say thank you. good deed done for the day mate . choked me up a bit seeing her smile.

a bit sad really , she married a guy nearly 45 years ago , moved to the uk and got a British passport . came back to Thailand ,but her husband found greener pastures.. things happen.... but even now she wants him to come back. a bit of a tear jerker really. i'm just happy with the help of others . it's only 58 quid a week, but that's a lot for an old lady in Thailand . and just to see that smile in an old ladies eyes makes it worth it. And a big thanks to pal52 who went out of his way to help for no other reason than just being a great human being, sorry pal52 she wanted to leave money for a beer for you and me .. but I said no . even skint thais can show appreciation and give their last baht to someone

Just gotta say well done to yourself Dean and Pal 52 . Its so nice to see someone being nice and helping someone out .
58 pounds a week is a small fortune to any elderly Thai . My mother in law gets a staggering 600 baht a month pension .
Maybe you should of taken those beers after all !!! Just joking . A kind deed goes a long way .

Send an email to Social Security in Manila asking for the form if he thinks it is lost in the mail. Just Google it for the address.
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.
