US vs Them

IF
A horrific accident killed 20 today in Thailand, imagine the bashing that would go on about safety and reckless driving!

two things surprise me about this incident, I won't describe it as an accident. One the limo was 17years old and had 18 people in it .Must have been a hell of a big motor. I have used these type of vehicles when in the states and the biggest I have been in held 10 inc driver .
Age is a matter of mind.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Yes this was an horrific accident but usa will change the rules to make sure this should not happen again while thailand does absolutely nothing to even take simple measures to stop the thai carnage . Also this is a rare event in usa and not a weekly occurrence as it is in thailand so the comparison is very weak

even in the news piece it was stated " the worst accident in 10 years" here, it does happen weekly

The San Mateo County investigators ruled it was an accident when a converted limo's suspension collapsed causing drive shaft friction that ignited a passenger compartment fire. Five people died in that 2013 inferno. This too was an old, frequently overloaded limo. The victims families did settle out of court with several parties including the limo owner and the company that did the conversion. However Ford's claim of non-liability was upheld. Makes sense when their regular warranties are voided with relatively minor modifications, the chop and stretch of limo's must void just about everything.

Latest on this very recent accident in the OP is the vehicle had recently failed state inspection and should not have been on the road. The (deceased) driver also didn't have the correct endorsement on his license to operate such high-occupancy vehicles.

Citation needed.

...unless you're an undercover cop and protecting your snitches of course.

Thanks for the (vague) links.

I don't see any real convolution. Just some totally unrelated and irrelevant private lives and previous non-felony arrests of a couple of people who are (were) involved with this tragedy. It is a small world after all.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/7450072/w ... ork-crash/

When there's a lack of news on an event, maybe more so with similar initially shocking, attention-grabbing events, the media will tend to post such non-stories as evidence of their ongoing investigative prowess and fill column inches. This despite the fact that the authorities have it all under tight investigatory wraps... and an editor will eventually can it as old news.

you really are kind of an idiot. typing from my
mobile device i am unable to cite references to
university level standards. the owner of limo co
avoided jailtime by becoming an informant. his
shoddy business practices / vehicles failing the
safety inspections is directly relevant here :-s

Whoa Tonto!... idiot call? I didn't call anyone "some fbi informant hussain alibaba or something" when this short discourse kicked off, did I?

I read all that already. The fact that the limo owner was busted for faking someone elses driving test 16 years ago and became a grass for the Feds or the deceased driver was last busted for having weed 5 years ago has bugger all to do with the limo having no road worthiness certificate, the driver not having a CDL and the death of 20 people a few days ago. His defense lawyer will probably secure such trash digging as both irrelevant and inadmissible. The guy was running a ---- limo business, not running for POTUS so no need for all this after-the-fact wailing and gnashing of teeth. Sheesh...

Yes, he should be punished if he is found guilty of the alleged flaunting of any state and federal commercial vehicle operating and commercial driver licensing laws but that's about it Tonto.

Oh, and maybe some state or federal licensing authorities should catch it in the neck for an apparent lack of oversight that allowed him (and countless other dangerous limo services) to continue operating?

uuhh , wrong again. the limo driver has had a cdl
for twenty years. what he lacked was an endorsement for his regular drivers license to
carry pax. the subtle nuances difficult to grasp

Now you're a stalker? Two minutes to post between the only two threads where you just cannot stand the idea of not having the final word.
Too sad.jpg
Honestly...
Now go ahead and knock another quick and salient riposte clean out of the park.

But first, here's a clue... google salient first.

Ah, now we have it. You being pathetically unable to counter the undeniable quick wit and instant repartee that you conflate as "smarmy, smart-arse" comments and need dated and facile emoticons as a crutch.

I get it mech, you're challenged to the point of being vague and largely irrelevant. Don't worry. You're not alone.

PS. I'm actually much better when I have had a few so if I'm absolutely slaying you when I'm sober... [insert sad-face emoticon of your choice here]?

annoying or offensive depending on state of pickling. perceive yourself as supremely intelligent
but most others find you coarse and abrasive in
social situation. until tomorrow good fun mate \:D/

Getting back (vaguely) on topic: has there been any other startling revelations in the aftermath of this car wreck in the US?

Or, as I surmised earlier, has the US media largely canned it because, well, it's old news and the actual accident investigations are ongoing and not any investigations of past misdemeanors of those involved either dead or alive?
