Thai man walks 1500km to spread g/f ashes
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

This topic came up recently in a conversation. Thailand is not the only country with laws for cremated remains.
A quick google and http://www.perfectmemorials.com/guides/ ... ing-ashes/
I am guessing they are a but more relaxed here then the Western World.

Short of someone taking a video of the act, who the hell can prove that you have scattered someones ashes somewhere that "Big Brother" has defined as illegal? and what are they going to do about it anyway .... pick them all up one by one

Re: Thai man walks 1500km to spread g/f ashes
When one of my older brothers died a few years ago, I told the funeral home he wanted to have some of his ashes spread on the Mekong......he told me that when he had visited a few years prior. At the cemetery in the US, the funeral director discretely handed me an envelope with a generous amount of his ashes. I took those ashes to Texas where he had many friends of our daughter who wanted to pay their last respects. So we had a very informal ceremony in Texas.....incense, candles and generous amounts of Johnnie Walker to see him off. I spread a bit of his remaining ashes there......then the rest in a ceremony out in the middle of the Mekong for his Thai friends. I did do some thinking about where all those Mekong ashes end up.......probably dredged up with sand and built into homes or big buildings.....here in Thailand, maybe in Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam as well. Even my oldest brother, a Catholic deacon, approved of how it was all handled.

You got me. I read this in regards to spreading family members ashes... Also if you are cremated here in Thailand it could be very tricky to get your ashes into your home country.. I wish I was making this up
Re: Thai man walks 1500km to spread g/f ashes
I believe you can bring ashes to the US....but not in your checked-in baggage.
Re: Thai man walks 1500km to spread g/f ashes
Taking them out is easy.. Bring back there has to be IS paperwork for sure stating who it is. The do not want illegals in any shape. I do know Canada border security is wierd about this. I am guessing the USA and the UK more so.
