Well done to Fulham, who play very attractive football and it would be nice to see them back in the Premiership.

There millionaire owner is in the process of buying Wembley Stadium from the FA.I've heard that Fulham will play their home games there and Craven Cottage will be sold ? Dunno about that as Fulham only attract around 25,000 max.
Hopefully it is just a rumour.....maybe your "knowledgeable friends" might know more,Bob ? :D

Ah, they are knowledgeable on the football side rather than the financial, Zid.. :D
However, many of the foreign club owners are businessmen & see it as a business, not as the result of a deep & lasting devotion to an area or the traditions of the club. For those at the very top of the tree ( e.g. Sheikh Mansour ) it might be chump change & they are happy with the cost for the world wide exposure it brings to their other enterprises; others (e.g. the Glazers ) use it as a cash cow.
I have no idea what Shahid Khan's intentions & reasoning is, but I imagine that a lump of land bordering the Thames in London would make a tidy sum as a building site... :D

Yeah, thats what I would be afraid of ! :( I've heard that some NFL will be played at Wembley but 25,000 Fulham fans in a ground holding 90,000........ :-s

Incidentally Fulhams manager,Slavisa Jokanovic, took Watford up to the Premiership a few years back but was then fired after he asked for a pay rise.......I wonder how Watford would be doing if they had stuck with him ?

Championship play off
Aston Villa 0 Middlesbrough 0
(Agg 1-0)
Boro couldn't muster a goal in the 180 minutes of the play off semi final & so go out.

EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL
Marseille 0 Atlético Madrid 3

LEAGUE ONE PLAY-OFFS
Rotherham United 2 Scunthorpe United 0 (Agg 4-2)
Atletico swept past Marseille for their 3rd. win in this competition in the last 9 years.
Will he go across the road to Real, Antoine Griezmann, scored twice to add another couple of £'s to his salary. :D

No fairy tale ending for The Iron as they concede 2 & then have a man sent off at Rotherham.
Third time lucky (they lost in the semis last year as well) maybe Jon..

LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFFS
Exeter City 3 Lincoln City 1
(Agg 3-1)
Exeter go onto the final at Wembley on Monday, 28 May for the second successive year after scoring a couple of goals that were well worth the tie. Lincoln never had the rub of the green throughout the game but were certainly beaten by the better side on the night..

Not exactly a shock :-

CARVALHAL LEAVES SWANSEA

Swansea City have parted company with manager Carlos Carvalhal following relegation from the Premier League.

LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFFS
Notts County 1 Coventry City 4
(Agg 2-5)
So Coventry will play Exeter in the final on Monday, 28 May.
The start of a long road back for a side that were ex-Division 1 (before the Premiership existed) & went through multiple ownership issues - including playing miles away from the city of Coventry...

West Brom: Darren Moore confirmed as Baggies manager
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44174232

A rare flash of sense from a club owner at last.
He had an excellent short run at the end of a dismal season for the club. A much more sensible decision than bringing in one of the usual suspects as most clubs do.
Saying that, he will undoubtedly be gone by Christmas & one of them appointed if the results don't follow.. :D
I wish him well & if his players keep up the good work of the last couple of weeks then they will certainly be in the mix come season end..

Paul Lambert: Stoke City manager leaves club after relegation
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44109888
Last week, the club's owners said they would continue to give managers time "to prove themselves".

However, the departure of the ex-Aston Villa and Norwich boss leaves Stoke looking for a third manager in a year.
Maybe a hint of why they were relegated there - that & awful transfer market decisions.
Seems odd, to me, to sack a man because he couldn't get players (who he never had a chance to pick) achieving what others thought they could.. :(

Local football: Interesting times in the 2nd tier of Thai football. Only 2 points between the top 3.
With 2 more games to the mid season break, 8th place Udon, a further 9 points from 3rd spot, need to win them both if they want to stay in with a chance of promotion. This evening they are at home to Sisaket.
Tomorrow sees 2nd place Nongbua Pitchaya away at Rayong FC.

Nick Daws: Scunthorpe United caretaker 'accepts' manager's job
Scunthorpe caretaker boss Nick Daws has said he has accepted the offer to manage the club on a permanent basis.
First-team coach Daws, 48, has been in interim charge since the Iron sacked Graham Alexander in March after eight games without a win.

Congratulations to Brackley Town who won the FA Trophy Final at Wembley yesterday. The game against National League Bromley ended 1-1 after extra time but Brackley won 5-4 on penalties.
Bromley actually led 1-0 in the 90 minutes, until the 5th minute of injury time when centre back,Roger Johnson ex Birmingham City, scored an unfortunate own goal.

Nice to see that Graham Alexander has been given the chance to show what he can do at one of the "bigger" clubs.

CAREER CHANGE FOR HOLT?

Grant Holt, formerly of Norwich and more recently of National League North side Barrow, has signed a contract to become a professional wrestler.

Holt has been pictured on the line-up for a ‘Supershow’ in 2019, only a few years after he was tipped up for an England call-up during his time at Carrow Road.

Not a real surprise as he has spent his whole career acting the part of a footballer

It was announced this week that Leeds United have received investment of around £12 - 15 million from the San Francisco 49ers, in return for a 10% share holding and a place on the board.
The idea is that they will help to modernise the club and on the marketing side of things. Also to raise the club's profile in the USA.

So where has the great one gone ???? ... cant believe Chairman Swan has the offered the Iron job on a perminent basis to Daws .. big mistake n it will man a fight to stay in L1 next season not in the promotion mix ... we needed a new face with contacts to get in decent place ... the only contacts Daws has iis for Pizza Company n the Samaritans ..****.

Pleased to see the Yanks are taking over Adhocs Nigglys n Pan Pauls beloved Leeds .....expect some big changes there notably in the obesity of players and and locals having to learn another second language ...

DM ..there is life after playoff defeat !!!!
Claret n Blue all way thru .. Up the Iron
