FA CUP 2017/18
Re: FA CUP 2017/18
Their only chance of a domestic trophy is now the League Cup but they face a tricky two legged tie against Chelsea in the semi final.
Bet They WON'T Play their 2nd Eleven in those 2 Matches Though !!!

The balance the day after..
Re: FA CUP 2017/18
Well, for all you VAR dissidents out there. Eat yer hearts out. Watched Foxes v Fleetwood Town Replay. One "goal" disallowed, the whole of the ball being shown on replay to have crossed the goal line prior to being crossed and tapped in. One goal allowed after initially being disallowed by a linesman's flag for offside. video replay showed the player Ineacho was clearly onside. No yellow card shown to the lineasman either! The quicker it's introduced into PL games the better. Too much money involved let alone Manager's livelihoods!

Re: FA CUP 2017/18
Lets do away with the players/lino's/refs and just show a game of FIFA 18 on a big screen for everyone to watch. ..... or better still turn all the grounds into office blocks and give the fans remote control buttons to adjust their x boxes at home.
Goal line technology was the thin end of the wedge, and that's now had to be suspended in France coz of too many mistakes VAR causing problems in bundesliga, and how long before football rules have to be changed to suit the computer and its programmers? Yeah I know ..... we all said that they couldn't change safety issues in businesses to suit a computer programmer but they did :-&

Re: FA CUP 2017/18
Just seen that 47% of Bundesliga PLAYERS want VAR scrapped.
How long did it take to make the VAR decision last night ......... oh yes 1 minute 44 secs

One VAR match doesn't make a summer
Too many video refs spoil the broth
Ya can lead a ref to VAR .... but ya cant make VAR get in right
See no Clear & Obvious error. speak no Clear & Obvious error and ya ref will hear no Clear & Obvious error

works in Cricket, Rugby Union, Rugby League.
The desire of the governing body is what it needs,
if it took the Dives out of the game and allocated goals when they were in fact goals, might be worth watching.

Re: FA CUP 2017/18
errr NO IT DOESN'T
In Cricket the VAR is not used in anything like the same way and anyway there is a natural gap between each segment of action to review what had happened. In Rugby they spend so much time standing around in lines or with their heads up each others ars*s that nobody would notice a few extra minutes while they look at a camera :-&
Are you suggesting giving Jose/Antonio etc etc the right to have two "APPEALS" each against the refs decision ??

If it stopped referees giving fouls when a defender made contact with the ball first (regardless of what happened with his 'trailing leg etc etc), and brought defending back into the game it might have some use

Re: FA CUP 2017/18
Reviews of diving at the end of the game, retrospective yellow cards given to the offenders, 2 cards in 2 consecutive week, you get a week, blatant cheating , supported by the coaches also.
If the ball crosses the line and its a goal, there is the time for the break, call the VAR, critical 1 minute, normally it could be used to confirm a goal, if so , then that minute is justified.

Thats a bit of an odd pic.The official attendance was given as 39,684 and I think Chelseas ground only holds around 42,000 !
Fans must have been dashing to the exits alright !
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

TV footage showed a section of the ground (away end) closed ...... the FIFA 18 bar was jam packed with fans who thought playing the game by computer was a good idea though

Managers should be given power to use video assisted refereeing (VAR) to challenge major decisions, says Notts County boss Kevin Nolan.
The ex-West Ham and Bolton midfielder says he "does not like" the way VAR has been trialled in England so far.
His solution is to allow both managers one unsuccessful challenge per match.
"You won't have as many stops, possibly only two. Once you've got it wrong, as a manager you have to say 'right, keep schtum and trust the referee', he said.
"Give managers a flag to say we want something reviewing. That stops the game right away.
"What it [the review] will do is tell the referee that he got something that he's seen spot on and that will give him a confidence boost, or they will go 'fair enough you have seen something different, so let's have a look at it'."
What Nolan envisages is a challenge system similar to that used in elite tennis, where players are allowed to make three unsuccessful challenges per set at any tournament using Hawk-Eye, plus one more if a set reaches a tiebreak.
Similarly, international cricket has had a review system in place since 2008, allowing players to challenge on-field umpires' decisions and refer them to the third official.
Use in cricket has changed over the past decade, and in the most recent Ashes series, teams were permitted two unsuccessful reviews per innings, but were allowed to keep reviews for marginal lbw decisions.
