Re: Flu jab?
Yeah I can believe what you say about the 12 days, it's a week 8 days in now and I'm still not well. Add to the mix that a lot of my family now have it quite bad too and all in all it's turned out to be a nasty, virulent bout of flu, I think my poor brother in law has it worse than I did, he's In a dreadful mess, he's been to the doc and had the usual injection. We're going to ask the woman who runs the Soi if she can contact the doctor who comes to the street to do the jabs and get the whole family inoculated, we will have to wait until we're better though so it might be a while, I'll let you know if we get it sorted in case anyone else want to join the queue.stereolab wrote: ↑October 16, 2017, 8:57 amI have been poorly now for 12 days, treated with Lemsip at the start, but no effect. Went to Dr, got a set of 5, yes 5, tablets, little or no effect. Went back and said I was not improving and got another, completely different set of 4 tablets. These took effect immediately, stopped my runny nose, but still not 100% yet, little or no energy. He did offer the “jab” but I declined, I suspect it would be the same placebo that my Mil swears by. It seems very widespread in the village and surrounding area .vincemunday wrote: ↑October 16, 2017, 8:35 amDay 3 of this Flu, it's really dreadful and it's knocked us for 6, one of the kids in the Soi was taken to hospital with it yesterday, I've seen Tamiflu on sale but wouldn't swear to it being the real macoy but I would still recommend taking it if you can find the genuine stuff, particularly if you're older or infirm, this is quite nasty.

Re: Flu jab?
There seems to be significant research that Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is not very effective (reduction if 1/2 a day of symptoms for adults in the flu a little over a day in children) and has a few nasty side effects, and no effect on required hospital administrationsvincemunday wrote: ↑October 16, 2017, 8:35 amDay 3 of this Flu, it's really dreadful and it's knocked us for 6, one of the kids in the Soi was taken to hospital with it yesterday, I've seen Tamiflu on sale but wouldn't swear to it being the real macoy but I would still recommend taking it if you can find the genuine stuff, particularly if you're older or infirm, this is quite nasty.
The NHS advice isOseltamivir increased the risk of psychiatric adverse events, headaches, kidney problems, diarrhoea, smaller increase in the numbers of antibodies, and nausea
While it appears that these drugs (Relenza and Tamiflu) have a modest benefit, there is no solid evidence that either drug can protect people from the more serious complications of influenza.
Paracetamol or ibuprofen would seem to be a far more cost-effective method of relieving the symptoms

A big no no for me, keep your immune system strong should be enough.

Re: Flu jab?
We asked the lady who normally sorts out things like the flu jabs to arrange a visit but unfortunately they’ve finished for this year so if anyone knows where I can get one done I’d be grateful for the heads up.

Re: Flu jab?
You & me both fatbob, better off improving your immune system than introducing all sorts of obnoxious chemicals into your system so "somebody" can make money selling them, with a lot of empty promises
Just my opinion!

Re: Flu jab?
Modern medicine or natural medicine, that is the question it seems. Years ago I got malaria after a trip to Vietnam in 1994, after six months it developed into glandular fever. The local GP explained that was normal, blood tests every two weeks with no real change in my condition, becoming very expensive with no results, tired with the GP I went to the natropath with all my blood tests etc, he explained the solution was simple, he would build my immune system up and my body would take care of itself, one week after seeing him I felt the best I had in nine months, ten days later the blood tests came back nearly perfect, the GP was surprised, I then told him I saw a natropath and he fixed me up, something the GP with modern medicine couldn't achieve, needless to say the GP cracked the sh-ts, what can I say, he fixed me up with a method that made sense...but above all what he did worked...that is good enough for me.

The pharmaceutical companies have Massive budgets to help sell their drugs, the last thing they want is any competition, off course everything they sell is safe, with no side effects- so they tell us & so the so called "experts" (paid of coarse) tell us the same thing, personally I have a lot of doubts!
