The Shrews have a rare stumble as they can only draw away & so Wigan close in second spot.
Town's great run of form continues & they are now in 13th. place, while Vale, Chesterfield & Rovers are all cut 5 points adrift at the bottom..

Mitch Hancox got the only goal of the game at the Moss Rose as Macclesfield Town beat Ebbsfleet to stay top of the National League.
The former Birmingham City and Crawley Town midfielder fired into the roof of the net on 42 minutes, following link-up play between Danny Whitaker and Scott Wilson.
In a game played out in heavy rain, Daryl McMahon's visitors posed a stern examination of the Macc backline after the break.
But, at the other end, David Fitzpatrick and Danny Whitehead could easily have extended the hosts' lead.
Former Aberdeen, Manchester United and Scotland manager Sir Alex Ferguson was among the crowd to see Macc remain a point clear of Dover and Woking.

This news is actually 3 or 4 days old but Port Vale fans seem happy with the appointments on their forum.
However,the new management duo got off to a bad start yesterday with Vale losing 2-1 at home to Grimsby in front of a crowd of 5,849.

Former Port Vale defender Neil Aspin has left National League side Gateshead to return to the struggling League Two club as their new manager.
Vale, who are 22nd in the fourth tier, sacked Michael Brown on 16 September.
Aspin, 52, who made 410 appearances for Vale in 10 seasons, won 39 of his 100 games as Gateshead boss in almost two years as manager.
Former Vale boss John Rudge will also return to Vale Park to work with Aspin as the club's director of football.
Rudge, 72, previously spent almost 14 years as Vale manager from December 1984 to January 1999, encompassing almost all of Aspin's Vale career.
He then spent a further 14 years in the Potteries as director of football with Vale's neighbours Stoke City until 2013, since when he has scouted for Hull City.

Thanks for RE highlighting the weekends main fixture Bob...and another local derby as the Iron take on Rotterham only 30 miles away ... Scunny need to get back to winning ways so not to loose ground at the top of the table . the several thousand Iron fans making the short trip have been reminded to make sure their Typhoid , Tetnus and Coal dust jabs are up to date ..

Elsewhere Leeds take on Reading after 2 totally crap performances they really need to get back o the winning trail again.

As Greavsie used to say, it is a funny old game.
Birmingham couldn't buy a win under 'Arry. New (old ) boy Steve Cotterill comes in & they beat top of the table Cardiff, not even letting them get a shot on target..

Thank you for your mention of Macclesfield,Bob,but I feel I must point out to the thousands of interested readers of this thread that Macclesfield v Ebbsfleet was the previous Saturday !
Yesterday was the FA Cup 4th qualifying round and the score was Stourbridge 0 Macclesfield 5 so Macc are in the first round draw along with "big guns" like Forest Green ,Cheltenham ,Port Vale and Scunthorpe.
But despite this minor blip your sterling efforts on the Grass Roots Footie forum are much appreciated by everyone
