Re: European Cups 2017/18
Manchester United were outclassed as Spanish and European champions Real Madrid retained the Uefa Super Cup victory in a sweltering Skopje.BBC sums it up nicely I think ZID. But hardly a Hammering Alan. At least Rom got a goal!
Re: European Cups 2017/18
Who is Rom ???????...........Forgotten Him Already,Mate....
Re: European Cups 2017/18
Maybe one day Everton will get to play a competitive game against Real Madrid instead of your big European fixture being Swansea in the EPL !
But a very comfortable 2-1 win for Real and a good workout for United.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Tomorrow its Celtic v Fc Astana.....also tough for the Scots.
Thursday its Everton v Hadjuk Split in the Europa league.

Wow,no electric for 15 hours, then waiting for Trumove to reconnect the TV and internet !
But two great results for the British teams in the Champions League.......
1999 Hoffenheim 1 Liverpool 2
Celtic 5 FC Astana 0
So looking all but assured that Liverpool and Celtic will be in the group stages joining Europes elite like Real Madrid,Barcelona,Bayern Munich,Juventus and ...............Manchester United !
Everton v Hadjuk Split in the Europa League tonight.
Incidentally, for the return leg,Split in Croatia is a lovely old seaside town......make a change from Llandudno for the Everton fans....just sayin'

Re: European Cups 2017/18
Everton 2 v. Hadjuk Split 0.......Very Good 1st Half Performance but a quieter 2nd half.....2nd Leg Next Thursday...
Re: European Cups 2017/18
Everton 2 Hadjuk Split 0......a good chance for the Toffees to progress even further in a competition that has eluded their 2 fans in SE Asia (747man and goodison) up to now.

Re: European Cups 2017/18
Very good of Zid. to give Llandudno a mention, one of my favourite places in N. Wales. Good coverage of last night's game on UTube hoping for same in return leg.Good performance by Michael Keane in front of the England Manager.

Re: European Cups 2017/18
Liverpool 4 1999 Hoffenheim 2 (aggregate 6-3)
Liverpool produced a stunning attacking display against play-off opponents Hoffenheim to ensure five English sides will compete in the Champions League group stage for the first time.
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, the Reds virtually wrapped up the tie with three goals in the opening 20 minutes.
Emre Can's deflected shot put them ahead before Mohamed Salah reacted quickest to slot in a rebound off the post.
Can stroked in Roberto Firmino's cross at the back post just 143 seconds later before Hoffenheim substitute Mark Uth, introduced after 24 minutes in a tactical reshuffle, pulled one back.
Former Hoffenheim forward Firmino put the tie beyond doubt after the break, sliding the ball into the bottom corner after Jordan Henderson dispossessed opposing captain Kevin Vogt before unselfishly squaring.
The German side, who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, did not lose their spirit and pulled another back when Sandro Wagner headed in Andrej Kramaric's left-wing cross.
The Reds, along with Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United will discover their group-stage opponents when the Champions League draw is made on Thursday (17:00 BST).
