Getting Snipped - A Vasectomy Thread

Post by annabelly » August 28, 2011, 2:32 pm

What are the success rate stats of a vasectomy? My husband has a vasectomy almost 3 months ago and hasn't gone in to get his sperm count done yet. I was just wondering what the stats were of the vasectomy not taking? Or the stats of my becoming pregnant after the vasectomy?

@ wazza: huh? who? what?

@ annabelly: According to my doctor and my research: Vasectomies are close to 99.9% effective.

Chances of pregnancy diminish over 2-3 months; after that I'm told miniscule chance of any of the little fellas surviving to make it to an egg.

The literature they gave me added that about 10-12 ejaculations post-op would clear out the plumbing pretty well, though I'm not sure over what time span that can be done.

The experts always suggest getting a lab test to be certain after about 8-10 weeks. I'm sure they're being cautious, but better safe than sorry in a case like this.

@ jackspratt: how many days afterwards were you back in action in Indonesia again? Hat off to you, then.

Just a refresh of the thread as Im thinking of having the op done.

Is AEK still the go with Dr. Boonsom, is he still around? or have others had success with another doctor and hospital.
Cost doesn't matter just a quality job. Insurance will cover it.
Any more info to add to the thread to help me?

The Snip, isnt covered my insurance, seen as elective / cosmetic surgery.

good luck Barney, surely 2 bricks on site and a piece of green or blue plumbing pipe to chew on, would do the job

When I had my snip I was very worried as it was said that it could diminish your s.x drive . Now 52 years later my worst fears are coming true. :-"

Gees that is a concern Trubrit, there's no way in the world I thought the se. drive would be diminished so quick, 52 years. Maybe I should hold back a while.

Wazza, Cigna insurance covers the procedure, I checked with them and got the answer today. \:D/

The words from the Devinyls song with Chrissy Amphlett come to mind

Dont forget the post surgery hand job that needs to get to Pathology asap.

Seriously you need to check the timings on this, I think its 30 mins to Pathology ( traffic jams from your place ? )

So if there are no other suggestions other than HJ's, \:D/ I will make further inquiries at the AEK.

Wont be for a while and might provide feed back later after it has all transpired.
