Taxi Recommendations

Can someone recommend an honest taxi service if there is such an animal?
Are there any that will actually use the meter?

I live about 6 or 7 kilometers outside the ring road on Nong Khai Highway and would like to take a taxi at times, especially if I plan on a few drinks. I asked one that want 600 Baht just to go to Phosi Road and Ring Road intersection. Is that fair? I don't know.

Maybe they are charging me for the trip from downtown bus station to my house to pick me up since that is where most of the taxis seem to be?

I don't mind a fair price but don't like to be ripped off being a fahlong

I just got a Taxi from the Complex to my home 6 or 7 Km outside ring road toward Nong Khai for 200 Baht. A great price I think.

Seems like a pretty good guy and a regular taxi not a private car.

i know a guy who got a " skylab" the nicer 5-speed version of a tuktuk with an actual suspension to drive him

and his lady friend nearly 20km outside of the city for 200B i'll try and get his phone # . a rare chap indeed

Looking for the same a taxi to trust at a reasonable price. I am on Nong Khai road 22 klm from Udon Thani in Nong Nok Khean 3klm before Phen turn .

I also live on Nong Khai Road in Sri Thani Village. I found a taxi I use. He is very reliable and reasonable. He charges me 200 Baht from home to the Complex downtown.
